VIO'S DREAM
The hero in purple was walking through Hyrule field in silence; his only companions the chilly breeze and his shadow on the snow beside him. It was New Year's Eve, also the shortest day of the year. That short day was already ending and as everyone else was in Castle Town Square celebrating to count down to the New Year, yet he was here. All alone in the middle of an empty field, wrapped in a long purple trench coat, watching the sun set, Vio stood.
Well, not quite all alone.
"You're quiet, I know that. But now your thoughts are making you sad. Tell me why?" spoke a warm voice from beside the blond. Instead of answering Vio looked up at the darkening sky as the last rays of light disappeared from sight. For a small eternity they stayed there, shifting once a while to loosen tight joints and stay warm.
Only when the stars were completely out did Vio turn to his Shadow, standing beside him now in the shallow snow.
"I'm just thinking, how fragile everything we have is. Just trying to imprint memories of things I don't want to forget. Trying to make sure I never forget anything important. But it's getting late, we should get back." So they turned and walked back along the snowy path Vio had made going out. He had walked farther than he thought though, and several hours passed before they made it back to Castletown.
Walking together in the light of the moon they passed through deserted streets and alleys. They heard the sound of the countdown on the wind and a moment later, the chiming of the great bells that signaled Midnight.
Shadow immediately grabbed Vio and pulled him into a quick kiss to the cheek. "Gotta kiss your love on New Year's for luck, right?" Vio gave a quick smile and a deep blush in response, but Shadow saw the sadness of his thoughts still forefront in the blonde's head. So he continued, "Hey, it's true that nothing lasts forever. But that doesn't mean it ever leaves completely. You'll always have your memories, and you'll always have me. Long as I have the will and strength to stay by your side, that's where I'll be."
Vio looked into Shadow's eyes and saw the sincerity shining in them. He smiled brighter and truer as he nodded.
"And it is the same for me; I will never leave your side, for anything. The day I leave you is the day the Goddesses take me into their realm."
The two boys shared a smile before turning back toward the sound and light shining down the street from the square at the other end. They walked into the light and had to shield their eyes from the sudden brightness.
But shielding his eyes did nothing to stop the brightness from increasing; it kept getting brighter and brighter even behind his eyelids till everything was white. Then, a voice whispered in the whiteness,
~"Vio, remember this, and your purpose."~
Then everything went black.
NO I'M NOT DEAD
YES I WILL RETURN.
I just need to find the time. :P
