Looks Can Be Deceiving
From a distance, she looked normal; blonde hair, blue eyes, a pretty face. She had the body of a gymnast thanks to twenty years of gymnastics. She was a straight A student which helped earn her a full ride to GU. She graduated high school with an AA and was out in the real world at 24, which is where she met him. Being a child that was not loved, she latched onto anyone that showed her attention. He asked her questions, he wanted to know about her; he cared, at least she though he did. She had been in love once, but that love was cruelly taken away from her and when she found out she was carrying his child, she knew she couldn't do it. The only reason she could afford college was her gymnastics scholarship, if she was pregnant she would lose it. She wasn't ready for a baby and she couldn't afford it, she had no insurance and a joke of a job so she took care of her problem and never looked backā¦until she lost her son. She felt the universe was punishing her for all her poor choices in life; for trying to use Guy for her experiments, for helping J escape Arkham, for not keeping her baby. She did not deserve to be unconditionally loved. J could never love her, he wasn't capable of it, but he needed her. She was his world just like he was hers. When she returned from her first stint in Arkham after she lost her son he gave her the babies, Bud and Lou so that she could feel loved. They relied on her and she thrived from it. She lost six more babies, one because of the treatment at Belle Reve, before Violet was born. She was early but she was perfect in every way. She filled the gaping hole in her mother's heart and showed her father how to love.
