Ginny interlocked her fingers with her boyfriend, Dean Thomas- oh how wonderful he was to her (and one heck of a kisser, she would giggly admit to her roommates after a snogging session)- and stepped into the Gryffindor Common room.

Immediately all the conversations stopped at the sight of the two Gryffindors, before catcalls and whistles were thrown into the air.

"Looks like Weasley and Thomas finally got together!"

"Always knew they would end up-"

"Thought that Potter and Weasley happened though?"

"Nah, that's not-"

Dean frowned and tightened his grip on his girl's hand, making the redhead stare up at him with chocolate brown eyes. "Don't worry, sweetheart." Ginny breathed across his face, much to the enjoyment of the student's watching them. "I love you and only you."

The darker skinned boy smiled and pecked her lips, before wrapping his arm around her waist. "I know."

Harry Potter looked up at the silence of the Common room, and found himself confronted with the sight of Ginny Weasley (a girl, his best friend's little sister, who he might possibly like after Cho, of course Cho still held his heart) and Dean Thomas (a nice boy who lived in his dorm with him… and was obsessed with football) faces rubbing against one another's and hands flying everywhere.

He stayed in the back corner of the room as the calls rang out, and watched as the two of them sucked at each other's faces. It was disgusting, Harry thought, how gross such a thing looked.

Ginny caught his eye after searching the faces and smiled, a pretty expression on her lightly freckled face. She whispered something to Dean, who nodded- of course he would nod to everything she would say, Harry thought spitefully, although he didn't understand why he was thinking such a thing about two people he cared about- and the duo headed over to where Harry was sitting.

It took a few minutes, as Dean and Ginny were patted on the back many times about their relationship, but they finally made it to stand awkwardly before Harry.

"Hi Harry," Ginny greeted softly despite the noises coming from the surrounding students. "I just thought that we should tell you that we are in a relationship."

It was short, to the point, and cut through Harry's heart like a knife. The last small thought that they were possibly just snog-buddies was rudely shoved from his head.

The black haired boy nodded weakly, and gave a wavering smile. "I'm happy, for both of you." He told them, and Ginny's smile was as bright and sunny as any place near the equator.

Dean looked surprised at how well Harry took it, and gave a small grin and a muttered 'Thank you', before Ginny dragged him away to go explain things to a rather angry older brother.

Harry watched them go with his heart sadly beating in his chest.

What was this he was feeling?
