A/N: Hello!
This basically takes part in the Anime/Manga time before some random mission/ or after the siblings' reunion before heading to save Guren [that's how I imagine things in the next season]
btw, I haven't read anything from the novel but the part about Shinya's childhood. [I finished reading it about two hours ago and I want to hug him TT_TT ] so, I'm very sorry if I misunderstood his backstory.
Disclaimer: I don't own Owari no Seraph or any of these characters.
He could still hear them.. People he held dear, or at the very least cared about -crying.. screaming..
He could still see it.. That battlefield.. where kids _such as him_ were forced to fight, forced to kill in exchange for their lowly existence. He could still see them getting slaughtered, through the eyes that were once blurry with tears as he faught... as he killed... for his own sake..
For his survival.
Once every three months, everything used to get red, stained with crimson.
But this was all over, right?
He won.. he survived.. and all that was a part of his past, right?
Then why? Why does he keep remembering it? Why not just letting go?
Why can he still see it on his hand? That blood.
Well, because no matter how much time passed; he can never erase the fact that they died, and he survived as a murderer.
No matter how much he tries, he can never remove the blood off his hand. It will always remain there, as a witness of his sins. A painful reminder of what he was, and will always be.
He tries to forget, and says, daring to put that filthy sinful hand on her head:
"Promise me... Promise me that you will be safe."
After swearing not to care for anyone who didn't help him. Not to care or love unconditionally.. she came into his life.
His so-called 'younger sister'. Surely, they were supposed to be 'siblings', but only by name. He wasn't supposed to care about her..
But he did.
The care that shattered his heart was once again offered.
He wants to protect her. She was too precious for him to allow her to die. But he can't always be with her to guarantee her safety. So he desperately asks..
"Hmm. I promise."
Shinoa answers, giving him a determined look.
'Definitely. I will survive.' She must be thinking. He wants to believe that look... that promise he was given..
But he knows it's a lie. After all, everyone said the same thing.. but lied.
They all said they would survive, but they didn't. And again he will end up being alone.. broken..
as usual, he hides his pain, and faces his destiny...
with a smile.
