The Rose Princess
Prologue
It was storming as the children ran for the forest. They needed to find the flower before the witches did. The girl already has two, she needs to collect all 10 by the time she turned 18, and if she doesn't she won't be able to absorb the roses and their magic anymore. The boy had the crystal compass; it's used to detect any object that contains magic. It was guiding them towards the cliff. Just through the trees they could see the black sky, dark storm clouds, and the cliff. At the edge of it was the flower, floating in a glowing white bubble. The girl, drenched with sweat and rain water, walked towards the glowing flower, but just as she was going to pick it up, the ground in front of her was struck by lightning, and she jumped back.
"You really thought that it'd be just that easy getting to the White Rose?" A high pitched, nasally voice squawked. It was Lektra, the witch of lightning, and behind her were her five sisters: Sarris, the witch of black light, Fawn, the witch of carnivorous plants, Amber, the witch of black fire, Candi, the witch of contaminated water, and Traci, the witch of air. They call themselves the Sixx.
"Actually, yes I did." The young girl admitted. "Al, don't waste your breath on them, just get the Rose." The boy whispered. "They won't give up without a fight, Lukas." Al growled. "I know." Lukas sighed, "Do you think you can use your magic to bring the White Rose to you?" Lukas asked. "I don't know, but I could try." Al said wearily. She closed her eyes and slowed her breathing.
"Awe, how cute, the little fairy is meditating!" Candi cackled. Her and her sisters laughed as Al focused on nothing but the Rose. Lukas stared as it started to glow and move forward toward his lifelong best friend. It didn't take long for the witches to figure out what the young, wingless (for now), fairy was doing, but before they could react, Al absorbed the White Rose and its magic into her body. Her body glowed a blinding white for a few seconds before it faded away. Lukas walked cautiously over to Al, keeping his eyes on the witches the entire time. He stood next to her and watched the Sixx closely. As he walked behind Al to grab some of the grass at the edge of the cliff where the flower once was, the witches got a maniacal idea.
"You won't get the rest of the magic roses, we'll make sure of it!" Sarris yelled. The witches charged up their magic, and all together, hit the edge of the cliff. Lukas stumbled back a few feet, but didn't fall over the edge. All of a sudden, there was a cracking sound and part of the cliff crumbled away, Lukas falling, with the broken earth. Al ran to the edge where Lukas fell, but he was no where in sight. His body wasn't laying on the ground at the bottom of the cliff, he disappeared. "What the- where'd he go?" Al spoke to herself in a whisper. When she turned back around, the witches were gone and she was left all alone in the forest soaked to the bone from the rain storm.
She spoke to herself one last question, holding back a sob, "Lukas, where did you go?"
