*Lifeline*
Sam found herself lost in thought as she walked down the hall to Daniel's office. The only thing that kept running through her head was what the general had asked of her only a few minutes before.

"Major, I have a favor to ask of you."
"What do you need general?"
"Well, you know what happened with Daniel and him taping Dr. Frazier's death."
"Yes, sir." Sam said as she tried not to start crying. Why was he bringing this up? She thought.
"Can you find Dr. Jackson and make sure that he is ok? I'm worried about him and I know that you two are close…"
Sam interrupted him before he could finish. "I will sir, actually I was going to go find him now."
"Ahh, ok then. You're dismissed."

Sam didn't know what to do. She looked everywhere for Daniel, but couldn't find him. She even called the front gate but they said he was still on base. Sam was not really paying attention to where she was going and almost ran right into Emmett Bregman.
"Oh sorry." Sam said as she looked up at who she about ran into.
"It's ok major. I was actually coming to look for you..."
"Not now Mr. Bregman. I'm looking for someone." Sam stated as she started to walk way.
"You wouldn't be looking for Dr. Jackson, would you?"
Sam stopped and turned around to look at Emmett. "Have you seen him?"
"Yeah, he's in a lab room I think. He said it was the place where he died…" Emmett didn't have a chance to finish his sentence before Sam took off running down the hall.
Sam stopped at the door way of the lab. There were no lights on but she could just tell that Daniel was in there. She walked a few steps into the room. "Daniel?" That was the only thing she said. She knew that if he was there, he would answer.
"Sam." Daniel got up out of the corner that he was sitting in. At first, Sam couldn't tell if there was anything wrong, but when he stepped into what little light there was coming from the hall, she could tell he was more upset, if not more than her.
Sam went over to where Daniel was standing. "Are you ok?" Sam asked, as she put a hand on his arm.
He turned to her. "No I'm not." He said, then went and sat back down. Sam followed him and sat down beside him.
"I'm sorry that you had to see that Daniel and that you taped it. God I'm so sorry." This didn't really get the reaction from Daniel that Sam wanted. All he did was sit there. Sam didn't know what else to do, "Well, if you need to talk, you know where to find me." And with that Sam stood up and went to walk away, but she was stopped when Daniel reached out his hand to grab hers.
Sam turned around as she was pulled into a hug. Daniel wrapped his arms around her and held her tight, as she did to him.
"I'm so sorry Sam, so sorry" Daniel said as he felt Sam crying in his arms, this in turn set him off. "It'll be ok, everything will be ok."
Daniel and Sam just stood there holding on to each other like the other was their lifeline and would help get them through the following days to come.
