A/N: An experiment if you will…
Unnamed Planet, Mass Effect Universe
Technically it wasn't a planet Joker had explained, at length, it was a moon because it didn't orbit the system's star. Instead the featureless, white sand islet and entrancing blue sea were lunar features and right at this moment Shepard couldn't care less about astronomical classifications.
The Spectre gave a luxurious sigh. The sunlight felt so warm and was relaxing muscles that had been tense since the arrival of the Reapers; of course the pair of hands that were gently massaging the Spectre's back helped dispel the tension as well. The roaming hands moved to another tight knot of muscles and Shepard gave a quiet hiss before they too melted into relaxation. The Spectre's companion made a quiet, almost smug, sound at Shepard's ear before placing a kiss on Shepard's now wonderfully relaxed neck.
A different kind of tension started creeping through the prone Spectre's form and the unseen mouth pulled away, echoing the same, self-satisfied, sound it had just made. The hands returned, resuming the arduous process of easing away every trace of tension in the Spectre's body.
"Tease," Shepard sighed; it wasn't a complaint – not really. Both of them knew the kiss was a statement, a promise, a taste.
Time passed – unheeded for once in a galaxy populated with civilisations fighting desperately for their very existence. The person who had warned those civilisations – who had twice saved them, rested on an insignificant beach on a remote dot in the universes with their lover. The warrior who had fought monsters that few others had willingly acknowledged melted as their soul-mate drew the tension from them. The diplomat who had welded the disparate races of Citadel Space into a single unified force lacked the words to voice their emotions as those wonderful hands finally stopped and the two forms lazily embraced. The Spectre's breath puffed out, somehow conveying the missing words and drawing a smile from the face that hovered mere centimetres away.
"I'm good," the second word was languidly elongated and as it finished the mouth melded onto Shepard's own. The kiss lasted for seconds, moments, lifetimes. When the two lovers parted a familiar heat was running through Shepard's veins and the Spectre took a quiet satisfaction in the ragged breath and slightly dazed look in the eyes that stared back at them.
"So am I," was Shepard's gently panted retort.
The smile returned, growing larger before the Spectre buried it under another kiss. Stars were born, spun haphazardly and then faded, before the two finally separated. The heat that had run through Shepard's body had blossomed, bloomed into something consuming and so utterly familiar. "That water," a short kiss fluttered against Shepard's mouth, "looks a," another darting kiss, "little tempting." A longer kiss followed.
"Maybe later," the Spectre finally responded after the couple parted. "But right now…" Shepard's mouth curled into a suggestive smirk, "…this beach has everything."
A/N: Well it was a stab at writing something fluffy/romantic for any Shepard/LI pairing - nothing spectacular or original, just a little scene for people to insert the own pairing.
