Kensi sat on the edge of her bed, sobbing her heart out. Deeks placed a comforting arm around her. She pushed away the tears from her face. "I checked in on her, how did I not see that the window was open? I know I didn't leave it open. Did I?"
"Maybe it wasn't open." Deeks said trying to reassure her.
"If I had just walked in instead of just peering through the door." She grabbed a tissue from Sam who had come over as soon as he could along with Callen. "Maybe she wouldn't be missing."
"There's no way you could have known Kens." Sam said. "You've had a long day, you were half asl…"
Kensi cut him off, "No. I should have known. I knew something was wrong. I shouldn't have just peered through, I should have gone in. I'm her mother, I should have protected her."
"We are going to find the son of a bitch who took our daughter and we are going to get her back!" Deeks wrapped his arms around Kensi and held her tight. "Take Sophie to my mother's, we'll find Sarah and bring her home."
"I need to be out there looking for her."
"Sophie needs you to look after her too."
Reluctantly Kensi packed a few of her and Sophie's things together and headed to momma Deeks'. "Deeks. It isn't looking good." Sam said as he came out of the bedroom. "Forensics are unable to find any fingerprints or any physical evidence. They can't even tell if they entered or exited through the window. There's no marks to indicate a ladder had been placed against the window seal."
"They didn't just fly in and out! There has to be some evidence!" Deeks couldn't believe what he was hearing. No evidence. Nothing to lead them to the bastard who took his baby girl. There must be some mistake.
Back at Ops Eric and Nell were trying their best to locate any cameras in the area that might have picked up on something. Anything. "The best I've got is a dark figure walking away from their house at the time of the kidnapping but I can't make out if they are carrying anything." Nell said.
"Maybe we're dealing with a ghost." Eric said trying to lighten the mood however Nell wasn't impressed. "Right. Sorry."
"There has to be something that'll help us." Nell was staring at the screen in front of her.
"Anything Miss Jones?" Hetty walked over to the two IT experts.
"Nothing concrete."
"The LAPD have called in some reinforcements to help out with the case." Hetty informed. "Please give them any information that you have."
"Reinforcements?" Eric questioned. "What kind of reinforcements? Do they not think we can handle this case?"
"Mr Beale, NCIS hasn't been assigned to this case. Secnav doesn't want us to investigate due to personal connection."
"So we just sit back and hope they find Sarah?" Nell asked.
"I can't control what you do Miss Jones. If you happen to find Sarah before they do I'm certainly not going to argue." Hetty said before walking out of Ops.
Eric and Nell turned back to their monitors in hopes of finding some evidence.
At the Los Angeles Police Department the FBI reinforcements had just arrived. "Hello, I'm SSA Aaron Hotchner, this is SSA David Rossi; SSA Derek Morgan; SSA Jennifer Jareau and Dr Spencer Reid."
"Hi, I'm Lieutenant Roger Bates. Thank you for assisting us on this case."
"Where can we set up?" Rossi asked.
"Just through there." Bates pointed to an empty room.
Rossi and Reid took the paperwork into the room and got everything set up for investigating. "I would like to speak with the family if that's possible." JJ queried.
"You can, however I feel I should inform you the father is a LAPD liaison with NCIS and the mother is an NCIS agent. Naturally they want to investigate the case themselves so I don't know how cooperative they will be."
"I understand."
"Morgan, you and I will go to the crime scene and look over the evidence." Hotchner, Morgan and JJ headed out to start their investigation and work hard to bring a child back to her parents.
