AN: I've had this written for a while, but I wasn't sure if I should put it up or not. I wrote it in about ten minutes and forgot about it, but after going through it and editing it I've decided to put it up. Please, please tell me what you think of it, even if you hate it. Also, I'm looking for a beta to go over this, a couple of my other fics and some future ones, so if you would like to, please contact me.

BLURRING THE LINES

James and Sirius had been best friends for a long time. Best friends and very close friends, but how close can two people get before they cross the line between friendship and something more? James and Sirius weren't too sure, but they knew they blurred the lines.

The drunken kisses at parties didn't blur the lines that much. Dares, games and drunken judgment or lack thereof meant many people had done it, so James didn't think that counted.

Maybe the hushed and nervous fumbling under the sheets at two in the morning blurred the lines more. Or the heated kisses in broom closets in between classes, or the blowjobs behind locked and silenced doors. They probably weren't the only ones, but the lines weren't clear any more.

The first time they fucked, Sirius considered the line simply severely blurred. The second it was an extremely feint shade of grey, but by the third time they both had to admit that they had well and truly left the line far behind them.

When James started dating Lily, Sirius thought the line would go back to being black and definite. It did not; it simply changed. How far can you go before you're forcing your best mate to cheat on his girlfriend? Does that change if he's more than willing?

So many questions make Sirius and James wonder if there are any distinctive lines at all. For them there aren't any more. Maybe there should be. But having a line that is crossable means there is temptation. Sirius has decided he and James will always be tempted to blur the lines.
