It was just a peaceful day in Karakura town, except for the most random dust storm brewing to the west, and strangely enough, remaining contained to the battered baseball pitch at the edge of town. Well that's how it seemed to the averaged bystander who held no spiritual pressure, but to those who had even a trace of spiritual power knew this was no dust storm.
It was a fight between one viciously weak hollow and one exponentially strong substitute soul reaper. The only problem was it seemed the soul reaper was losing, he was holding back. He feared his own power and as he was beaten and pounded by the weaker being, he began to lose himself to the very power he was holding back.
A fight between a hollow and a human-gone-soul reaper was becoming a fight between two hollows as Ichigo Kurosaki resolve and strength weakened, letting lose his own inner demon. Soon the weaker hollow was no more, but Ichigo Kurosaki was not done, for he was no longer Ichigo Kurosaki. He was a full blown hollow and had completely lost control of his own body, well astral body that is, as his human body was being occupied by a mod-soul cowering behind a bush crying out for Rukia, "his savior".
Rukia Kuchiki, having sensed a disturbance in her comrade's spiritual pressure, rushed to the scene, only to find Ichigo wielding his bankai against his own human body. And when she got close enough to see the murder within his masked eyes, she had no choice intervene. She drew her zanpakuto and life flashed through Ichigo's yellow eyes with a flash of brown irises as he hunched over and held his head in anguish, screaming in phantom voice, "RUKIA! TAKE KON AND RUN! I can't hold-" And in an instant he stood tall letting out a horrible laugh, and leaning toward Rukia in a not-so-distorted voice, "He's trying to protect you even now! But I'm free, and you're dead!" The hollow bellowed at her as he towered over her.
"KON!" She yelled at the mod-soul that was slowly creeping away, "When I say, tackle him!" The boy coward and physically shivered as he cried, "But he'll KILL me!" he protested, but he could not disobey Rukia. As Ichigo's hollow swung around zangetsu ruthlessly, leaving Rukia on the defense and she focused on her enchantment, and after muttering many word she screamed out to her plushie partner, and released Bakudo #1, Sai. The weak binding spell wouldn't hold the hollowfied Ichigo for more than a few seconds, but it didn't need to because at the instant of immobilization Kon jumped out with superhuman speed and as he attacked the astral body it disappeared into the physical body that it belonged to and hacked up a little green marble. He looked up at his enemy with yellow eyes and growled before keeling over unconscious and hitting the ground.
Next chapter, find out what really happened in Inuyasha world after Naraku's defeat. ( I love Rumiko Takahashi's work, but I'm not quite a fan of the way she ended the series.) Also I know that this is short but it's almost midnight and this is a good place to leave off, not to mention it's an even better place to pick-up from in chapter three.
