Juno's POV
I pulled up to Paulie Bleeker's house in my large abnormally blue van and honked my horn 3 times. I saw him peek out his window from the second floor and then disappear again. We had made plans not even 10 minutes ago to just get in my van and just go.
Moments later Bleeker exited the house and I could hear his Mom protesting but he didn't care he just walked straight towards me. I leaned over from the drivers seat and pushed the door open and he jumped in.
He turned towards me and gave me a slightly nervous smile "Hey".
"Listen this" I said and inserted my fav The Smiths CD. "I found it squished between my lava lamp and the back of my closet. Pretty Amazing right? I mean The Smiths talk about genius!"
"Yeah, there, there pretty amazing." He said picking up the empty CD case and turning it over in his hands. " So, listen my Mom says I have to be home by 9"
"What did you think we were gonna go hook up in some sleezy motel? I am not having another kid!" I said turning onto the high way "You'll be back by 9"
"Great, I'll call my mom" He said pulling out his 10 year old piece of crap cell phone.
"Hand over the cellular device" I said trusting out my hand without taking my eyes off the road. I felt the warm piece of plastic and flipped it open pressing the number one button I know was reserved for his Mommy.
"Hello, Mrs. Bleeker" I said into the receiver.
"Oh god! Juno!" I heard him say with a crack in his voice.
I laughed slightly as I heard his mother say "Juno MacGuff you bring . . . "
I cut her off figuring whatever she had to say was unimportant anyways "I will have your precious little boy back by 9, Goodbye Susan."
"Young lady that is no . . . " I pressed the end button before pressing it a second time to turn it off.
"Seriously? Seriously?" he said staring at me trying his best to look pissed.
"What are we Grey's freak'in Anatomy? Chill, your mommy will be made at you for .2 seconds when you get home before giving you a lecture on how much she hates me and then continuing to stuff you full of mashed potatoes. And, I know you like your mashed potatoes." I said and as I pulled of to the side of the road. "Get out."
"What?" He said watching me turn of the car.
"Just do it." I said and he opened the door and left the car.
I walked up to him as he stared at the scene in front of us.
"Look around us, Look at the the moon, look at the stars, look at the sun."
"Juno, you can't possibly look at the stars and sun at the same time."
"Look at the Ocean, the mountains, the desert and the sky" I said taking hold of his hand "Just look up at the sky."
We stood there in silence for so long it felt like we became part of the earth. Like our legs were really just roots, and our eyes were just the petals of a flower searching for the sun that was no longer there. The world around us seemed so big. And we seemed so tiny, so unimportant. We were just a speck of dust inside a giants eye. For the first time in my life I was grounded, stuck in this spot forever unable to move away, feeling the warmth of the ground and the warmth of another human being standing right there, right next to me feeling exactly what I'm feeling. Our hands connected us but the earth held us together.
