Dropping his backpack next to the door, Castiel ran toward his bedroom. High school was a pain and the days were so long. But one thing was keeping him through the day and he was running toward it. The teenager attended a private catholic school, like the rest of his family, and the severe rules and the tense atmosphere was hard on poor Cas. Opening the door of the room he share with his two older brothers Gabriel and Balthazar, the dark hair boy stopped in front of the window. With one swift movement, he opened it, sliding under it. The window slammed down behind him. Suddenly the world was gone. All that matter was the small rooftop were he can finally spend some time in peace. No one come to bother him here. Castiel settled down, head against the window frame, looking at the clouds in the sky, imagining creatures in the shapes. A sharp 'thud' bring him back on earth. When his gaze meet the greenest eyes he's ever seen, the teenager was mesmerized. Who was this boy? He knew the house tenant very well. An middle age man by the name of Bobby who let him play with his dog when the weather was nice and his parents weren't home. Maybe the boy he was his nephew? « Who are you? » the other teen asked. Castiel tilted his head, never breaking his intense eye contact with the other teen. The silence wasn't awkward or anything. Strangely, it was a welcoming silence. Not the heavy filled with prayers silence. A calm, pure, free silence. "Are you mute. Or maybe you're retarded?" As the words were said, Cas flinch back as if he was stabbed by the words. With one swift movement he got up, opened the window and got inside the house, leaving behind him a very confused teenager. This was the first, but not the last encounter with the green eye boy.
The second time Castiel saw the new kid it was a few days later. He was sitting at his desk when sounds of laughter and screams of joy tore him from is Latin homework. A quick peak behind the curtains revealed the green eye teenager and what seemed like his younger brother. The eldest was walking on the edge of the roof like a tightrope walker, making faces toward the boy sitting on the window frame. With a small jump, the green eye boy landed on his roof, just a few feet away from the peeking teen. Castiel quickly let go of the curtain, going back to his homework.
The third time, Castiel was back on his roof for the first time in a while. He had a bad grade at his latest test and he had to endure a public humiliation at supper time. His dad had scolded him in front of all his brothers, while everyone was starring at him with disappointed faces. Knees up and arms around his head, Cas was quietly sobbing. His shoulder were shaking not only from the sobbing but also from the cold. Warmth suddenly surrounded him. Freezing, fearful that his father was coming to talk, Cas stood motionless. A finger poked his head. Great, Balthazar was going to make fun of him. Instead of the deep baritone voice of his brother, an awkward "there, there" was ushered. The teenager lifted his head and meet the green eyes that haunted him for weeks. A smile grew on Cas' face. The other teenager smiled back. "Knew you weren't stupid." They talked for the rest of the night.
The fourth time, Cas was sitting on the edge of the roof, his feet dangling in the air. Dean came out of his room through the window. The was something wrong, Cas could tell. "We have to move. Bobby his throwing Dad out of the house." At the young age of 16, Castiel discovered what it felt like to have his heart broken into million pieces.
The last time, Castiel just had graduate from Uni. He was packing the last of his things, ready to move out to a new town and start a new job. What he didn't expect was a set of green eyes peeking at him. "Hey." The window opened, and like in a dream, Dean was standing in front of him. What could he possibly say? The space between them closed when Cas took one step toward Dean. "Come with me."
