Try as he might, Ron Weasley cannot remember the sun. Yes, he sees the sun, and yes, he knows the sun, but he cannot remember it. He cannot remember the feeling of happiness, of joy, of enjoyment because while he does see the sun, he does not see it. The experience is washed away in a wave of the war, another reminder that this is not over and it will never be over.

Ron spends a lot of time with his family these days. It's either time with the Weasleys, who avoid Fred and George and carry on as best as they can (it's not best at all, they don't know what to do so Molly overcooks - there is so much, too much, food here- Arthur overwonders, and Ron tears his heart out) or time with Harry and Hermione, who say nothing and everything at once (and Hermione kills herself to save Harry). It's a hard choice but it hurts too much to see his best friends die and not be able to do anything at all.

He learns a lot at home. Most importantly, he learns he's needed. Useful.

Molly, Mum, needs to him watch Arthur, Dad.
Arthur, Dad, needs him to watch Molly, Mum.
Bill needs him to stay Ron (don't change, Ron. We've too much of that around here).
Charlie needs him to be the man around the house.
Percy needs him to be Ron (and ridicule him and poke fun at cauldrons and the Ministry and never, never, talk about Fred, please).
Fred -
George needs him to be Fred's replacement (but Ron can't do that; no one can do that; only Fred).
Ginny needs him to protect her (and her broken heart and what's happened with Harry and Hermione?).

So he stays at the Burrow and does all that and he hopes and hopes that Harry and Hermione understand.

I don't know what else to do.

And he doesn't know. He doesn't know at all.
