Hiyas. Just a quick note about me and this. I adore the first two books. The other two... yeah... well, i read them. I have spent a large part of my life thinking about / anlaysing / etc the books and Artemis in particular, but I've never really written any fanfiction. I have never read any. At all. And it might stay that way, too. So this is...

Just because. I expect to write many more about my favourite Irish lad…. (mwah ha ha). Or not. I haven't decided yet.

And yes, unrattlable is not a word.

Anyways, enjoy this little drabble

(and check out my main fandom- my Legal Drug fanfics)

Rain pattered gently against the window pane, the only sound in an otherwise quiet study. It had a peaceful quality to it, its irregularity a contrast to the dull light which was diffused through the grey clouds that seemed to cover the entire Irish sky. The light, entering the quiet room through large windows, seemed to come from both nowhere and everywhere, as is the nature of light on such days. It was added to by the cold, thin light of the many computer monitors in the room, the occupant of which, unaware of the way the artificial glow seemed to sap the light out of his skin.

Artemis did not mind the rain. In fact, he rather enjoyed it. Given his attitude towards heat and sunlight this was, really, to be expected. The wind, in an effort to rattle the unrattlable window panes, had picked up considerably and Artemis imagined that he would hear it buffeting and howling, had the manor been built in a way that allowed this. Of course, the manor had not, and thus the sounds of the wind blustering did not make its way inside, nor did any of the windows rattle. The Fowl predecessors, however, had not contrived a way for the sounds of the weather to be muted altogether, and so the rain drumming on the manor became more insistent. It was very much a stay indoors sort of day. This was a pity, as Artemis' very nearly immediate plans did not involve savouring the comfort of the indoors on a rainy day. He always had plans. His plans for the near future also did not involve getting wet, although at this rate the possibility of that was becoming smaller and smaller. But that was a personal preference and not at all integral to his latest dangerous scheme. While Artemis disliked being anything less than comfortable, his desire for, and satisfaction in succeeding in a clever plot, particularly a risky one, was much stronger.
