Summary: Gale's thoughts on an incident in District 2.
Gale Hawthrone thought he'd been prepared to watch Katniss die in the
arena. Thought he'd resigned himself to the concept of losing her the
day of the reaping.
Today, Gale realized how wrong he was.
The fear and grief Gale had felt when he saw Katniss crumple to the
ground after the gunshot was more intense than anything he'd experienced before.
He never should have left her
Shoving people away, Gale reached Katniss.
His Catnip, though he knew she'd never truly be, not anymore.
Arms caught Gale, stopping him. It took him a second to recognize Boggs.
"Easy, she's fine. Suit reflected it."
Gale broke free and dropped to his knees next to Katniss.
Her eyes opened briefly and met his.
She was fine.
Beaten the odds once again.
His Catnip.
