Happy New Year, even though it's January 2nd. I hope it's a good one for you!
"No one can party like a Mirkwood elf!"
It was Legolas' and Rhavaniel's wedding party. The night was rather starry and the party was in the middle of a well lit clearing outside the palace. Somehow Galion had persuaded Thranduil to bring up 3 very large barrels of a particularly potent wine from the cellar. Now, it had to have been some incredibly potent wine to get most of the elves as drunk as they were. Thranduil was already swinging his crown around his head with Galion ducking and dodging and high kicking it.
Legolas was sitting at the table with his head in his hands and a full cup of wine beside him. The Elvenking had at least half the barrel. "Ada," He said. "I believe you've drunk enough."
"Nonsense!" Thranduil slurred, slumping himself atop the table with his drink sloshing everywhere. "We are among dark times; we need something to... enliven us!"
"I know. But you are making a fool of yourself."
Hearing the conversation, his bride danced her way to them, "Come now, Legolas!" She chuckled. "Your father is correct; we need some more light in the world." She prodded his mug.
Legolas shook his head and sighed, "Rhavaniel."
"Legolas." Both Thranduil and Rhovaniel said crossing their arms, they spoke firmly.
Eventually Legolas sighed and fiddled with the mug. "This is the only way I won't have you both pestering me?" The Elvenking and the bride nodded drunkenly. Legolas chuckled softly and swallowed the wine. It didn't affect him much but he was unsteady on his feet.
Thranduil had danced back into the crowd of elves while Legolas and Rhovaniel danced together in the middle of the clearing.
"Thranduil was right. This was a glorious party."
Legolas nodded and glanced to the Elvenking who was dancing and drinking happily. "He's enjoying it but he'll regret drinking that much when the sun rises."
"At this rate, he and Galion will party until the sun rises." The pair laughed. "Gi melin."
"Gi melin." They kissed and smiled.
"Perhaps we should leave and go somewhere else?" Legolas spoke hushed.
Rhavaniel giggled. "What place?" The two laughed and slowly danced away into the palace.
Thranduil topped up his drink and swallowed it in one. He and the rest of the wood-elves partied until the sun rose over the wood, and long regretted drinking as much for the rest of the week.
