April 2006

I remember when it (he) walked into my life. The date. 13 February 1533. I remembered since I just turned seventeen and was playing the hide-and-seek with a very good friend (childish I know). He came out of the "wood work". Naked. I could fill my pale face rise with heat. Blush - to be exact. A few minutes later I heard a giggle - the Queen's giggle. Speak of her and she shall appear. Naked and not in all her glory (well she was actually but that's not the point). I didn't know whether to bow or turn and hide. I was frozen in place. The Queen stood not a mere five feet away from me with her lover. He glanced between me and her and began to take a hesitant steps towards me. I stayed frozen till I felt his hand on my face and gently tilted my face towards his. Once. Twice. We kissed.

I awoke with a start. I hear his breathing right next toward me. I signed and turned my heard to see my "husband-to-be" of three years, Jake, snoring. Peacefully. I gently slid the covers off my hot, sweaty, body and set up. I debated whether or not to write this in my "entry". Why should I? I always have the same dream. Me in the Middle Ages and kissing a naked stranger by the end of it. I glanced at the clock. 4: 50 A.M. A whole three hours before I leave for my flight to Forks, Washington. Today was the day I was going to tell my father I am engaged to someone I wanted to be with instead of being "betrothed" to a nameless stranger. I glanced towards Jake and thought of a way I could wake him up. Besides, Misery loves company and I had one hour to spare.

3: 50 P.M. I was on a plane for six hours plus add three hours from Seattle to Forks by car. Over all I really loved when my dad visited me in New York. I pulled my rented 2006 Ford Fusion in to the drive away behind dad's Police cruiser. I turned the car off and got out. I could feel the wind blow past me indicating the rain was fixing to roll in. I made my way up the steps - carefully holding on to the rail. Tightly. I reached the door, safe and sound, which is more than I can say about the last time I was here. My hand grasped the silver door handle. I gently turned and step in. Apple and Cinnamon aroma hit my nose and I took in a deep breath and closed my eyes. Sue's always fresh-baked Apple pie. Yum. I opened my eyes and saw the familiar stranger and his Queen beside him. Watching me.
