"Keith," Shiro said, dark undertones shining through.

"Yes sir?" Keith said, knowing respect was the way to go in the situation.

"Meet me inside."

Keith froze for a millisecond at the tone, then stiffly followed to the cockpit of the black lion. He felt the eyes of the other paladins on his back, could almost hear their whispers.

"Meet him inside."

"Meet him inside."

"Meet him inside."

"Meet him-"

"Meet him inside."

Keith shuddered, then turned to face Shiro as the doors slammed closed.

"Son-"

Everything within Keith shied away from the title. "Don't call me son!" he growled.

"This war is hard enough without infighting!"

"Lyf called you out, we called his bluff!" Keith threw caution to the wind, letting his famous temper get the better of him.

"You solve nothing! You aggravate our allies in the southern quadrant!" Shiro was getting more worked up, facade of dark calm slipping.

"You are absolutely right, Lance should have shot him in the mouth, that would've shut him up!"

"Son-" Shiro tried again.

"I'm notch son!"

"Watch your tone!" Shiro snapped. "I am not a maiden in need of defending, I am a fully grown-"

"Jonya Lyf, Marlol Trymat, these people take your name and they rake it through the mud!" Keith interrupted, naming aliens who didn't agree with Shiro's leadership.

"My name has been through a lot, I can take it." Shiro shivered, remembering bits and pieces of his time as the Champion.

"Well I don't have your name, I don't have your titles, I don't deserve your lion. But if you-" Keith started, rage rising.

"No!" Shiro cut him off, knowing where the conversation was taking them.

But Keith pressed on. "If you let me train with the Blade, I could fly above my station and continue on after the war!"

"Or you could die! And we need you alive!" Shiro exclaimed as the argument became more and more heated.

"I am more than willing to die!"

"Voltron needs you alive. iii, I need you alive!"

"CALL ME SON ONE MORE TIME!" Tears had begun to brim in Keith's purple-black eyes as he screamed at Shiro. They widened as he realized what he had just done.

Shiro was silent for 3 of the longest ticks Keith had ever experienced. Then, almost in a whisper Shiro replied. "Go take a break Keith. No fighting for a week. That's an order from your commander."

"Shiro-" Keith tried.

"No. Fights." Shiro's facade of deadly calm was back, and Keith knew it was no use arguing.

LOL that was way too fun. I'm probably going to start a series of one shots about Voltron as Hamilton.

Ps, I totally made up random alien sounding names halfway through this. They mean nothing.

As always, review or pm me with questions, suggestions, or plans to fight instead of fleeing west.
