~Prologue~

I'd never believed in the mythical creatures I read about. The only real fantasy creatures I believed in were good men, and that's saying something. I was proved wrong on both accounts, a hundred times over.

But lessons in life must be learned, and mistakes must be made. Not only had I had my fair share earlier in life, but now I had made the biggest mistake I could possibly have. I never regretted my mistake, though. My mistake brought me the man I loved, and a whole new world, full of endless possibilities for me to discover and explore.

That world, however, was dark and twisted, full of lurking shadows...
