Magnus stood in front of his apartment door, not willing to open it; not willing to see an empty home. He hadn't worn any makeup that day. Alec had always liked it when he got to see him in what Alec liked to call his natural beauty. "It's like a secret side to you that only I get to see." He was dressed in head-to-toe black and he almost wanted to rip his clothes off, for although black was Alec's favorite color, it was signifying an end to a life today.
Magnus raked a hand through his loose hair and looked at the ceiling of the hallway, "Isabelle looked beautiful today," he said quietly. "Her dress was very stylish. It looked like what Tyra Banks wore on 'America's Next Top Model' last season... episode thirteen."
He laughed and shook his head, although his eyes were starting to brim with tears. But he fought them back, he had to be strong for Alec. His Alec. His Alexander Lightwood. With that in mind, he opened the door to his apartment to see Alec's iPod on the coffee table along with a note explaining his need to help Jace with a ravenous demon. "Oh, I left you a note on the coffee table. Don't worry, it's just a simple demon; a rune won't even be necessary!... fine, fine, I'll use one."
He picked up the note and folded it slowly and carefully before slipping it into his pocket. He went into the kitchen and put a bowl of noodles from the refrigerator into the microwave. While he waited for the food to finish reheating, he went back into the living room to pick the iPod off the table and play the last song Alec had been listening to. He bit his lip and sat on the couch.
"You're dead..." he whispered out into the empty space he had once called a home.
Should've known you'd bring me heartache,
Almost lovers always do.
