Haunted
Petunia had never really liked her little sister, ever since she was born. It's normal for another sibling to be jealous of the new one, especially when you're already three years old and start to think for yourself. But for Petunia, that feeling had never truly disappeared.
She had started to get along better with Lily when she became older. She was proud of showing Lily her school, where she was quite popular among the other students. She would be able to discuss some things with her, girl things, for example…
But, about a month before the start of term that she anticipated so much, that cursed letter had come.
It had appeared with the rest of the morning post. Lily had opened it, and her eyes had grown wide. She had told their parents:
"Come and see this, it's unbelievable!"
Their parents had not believed it, at first. Petunia had jumped on the occasion to tease her sister, who believed in it very hard.
But to Petunia's displeasure, a man - wearing robes! - had come to fetch Lily two days later. He claimed to come from the "ministry of magic, education department" or something like that. After that he had transformed her glass in a kitten, Petunia had fled to her room.
Her parents had been overjoyed to learn that their little girl was… special. They had taken her shopping for her new school, and had jumped almost as quickly as Lily herself on her school books. This new world fascinated them.
But for Petunia, that world became more and more freaky. When she came home for Christmas or the summer break, it was always Lily who had the most to say. Lots of fantastic things, of which at least half, Petunia was sure, was complete invention. A sport on flying brooms? Whatever.
Her parents didn't see, didn't understand, no, they didn't, that Lily had… charmed them, that's the right word, with all her beautiful stories. They were always a lot more interested by Lily's than by Petunia's.
Lily this, Lily that… The worst of it all, it was that she always had the bests results. Even better than Petunia's, who wasn't that bad either.
And, during the summer, there were all those owls that came and went in her sister's room. They made an unnatural noise, Petunia thought, and it wasn't normal.
And what was Vernon, her boyfriend, going to say when he came home to visit?
She then became horrible with Lily. She had to go. She was going to ruin her life. She had no right!
When Petunia married, Lily wasn't present. Petunia had innocently asked for her marriage to be done in May, just when Lily was anxiously preparing for her NEWTs.
When she was, at last, comfortable with Vernon in the house in Privet Drive, Petunia had thought she would never again have to be bothered with the… abnormality of her sister.
How she was wrong.
Lily would haunt her all her life. A boy with green eyes, another abnormality…
