Drabble based on this quote from the episode
"And the other guy…well, there wasn't enough left of him to find anything useful."
"I saw it, Regina." Emma began quietly as she poked around at the rudimentary map she was trying to create while the others had vanished off into the forest.
"Saw what?" Regina asked, genuinely curious as to what the Saviour had seen, or thought she'd seen, as history would tell.
"Your face."
"Lucky for us your eyesight isn't degrading. Being blind would hinder our quest, don't you think?"
"Cut the sass, you know what I'm talking about." Emma huffed throwing the stick down and staring at the woman sitting proudly on the opposite boulder.
"First off: No. It's the only stopping me from killing your parents. And second: if I knew I wouldn't have to ask what your incessant babbling is about." Regina plucked at her clothes idly denying the woman the dignity of meeting her eyes - small victories where she could get them – and wondering how Rumple managed to change his clothes on the ship when all she managed to do was create a few fireballs.
"When… Tink," Emma grimaced, "Said that thing about Greg and Tamara. See! That!" Emma said pointing to the smirk gracing Regina's features.
"What? I'm not allowed to smile?" Regina asked innocently.
Emma groaned, "Not about people dying, Regina."
"So I'm not allowed to feel even the slightest bit of joy at the news that that the people who tortured me mercilessly and kidnapped my son have met their imminent demise?" Regina asked now towering over the blonde who had the grace to look admonished.
Emma rubbed the back of her neck as she glanced up at Regina through her lashes, "Well, when you put it like that…"
"Yes. When I state the facts things seem much more clear, don't they?" Regina seethed, thinking off all the times so many people had assumed the worst without hearing things from her side of the story.
"I… I'm sorry, Regina. I should… I should have realized."
"Yes, you should have." Regina stated with a deep breath before moving back to her boulder, now sitting with her back to the blonde as the phantom feeling of electricity coursing through her body came back with a vengeance.
"If it makes you feel any better," Emma began quietly, watching the brunette tense. "I'm glad they're gone too."
Regina couldn't help the smile on her face. And though she would say otherwise, it did make her feel better.
But the small smiles Emma shot her way after she turned back around made her question that, yet she couldn't stop herself from reciprocating the gestures.
AN: Just a small something before we get crushed next week. And hopefully after my exams I should update my fics which have been gathering dust (sorry again)!
Review, tell me what you think!
