Kyra took off the lab coat and folded it, placing it in her bag. She took a look at herself in the mirror, readjusting her long, black hair. There were dark circles under her brown eyes which were more visible on her pale skin. She sighed and put on her jacket.

"Had a long night?" she heard a voice behind her as she walked out of the locker room. She turned around but kept walking as Sarah caught up with her on the way out.

"Yeah" she said as the woman was by her side. "Lot of suicide attempts today"

"Well maybe the psychiatry department should do a better job then" the redhead said raising her eyebrow.

"Maybe you should" Kyra answered back fearlessly as she turned towards her. They both smiled to each other with hidden sarcasm in their eyes.

Kyra knew that Arkham was no place to practice Emergency Medicine but it wasn't like it was her choice to come here. She was placed there by some doctor that thought she was too outspoken to be in Gotham General. So instead, they threw her in a hole and forgot all about her. And the fact that the place was packed with cocky psychiatrists, didn't make things better.

The rest of the doctors thought that her profession was somewhat unnecessary there. Dismissing, of course, the fact that if she wasn't there, half of the patients wouldn't exist. Mostly, because most of them tried to kill themselves on a regular basis. Also, she took the role of a pathologist as well since none of them really cared if any of the people there were sick or were hurting.

Not only that, people there believed her methods to be a little bit too…pointless for the kind of patients they had. And every time she tried to take her practice to another level, or even when she dared to say that someone needed an X-ray, she was bashed down by the 'ethics' committee of the place. Those guys, didn't believe everyone deserved to be treated, since they were murderers and psychopaths.

I mean, being a doctor was all about bias, right?

"So what are you doing this weekend?" Sarah asked as they pushed open the door of the non-violent crowd corridor.

"Nothing much" she answered briefly before nodding to the guard.

"They're here! Help! HELP!" both women turned around, as one of the patients began banging his fists on the metal door.

"Calm down" Kyra said approaching the cell.

Sarah sighed exasperated "Come on your shift is over can we go?"

"This is Your patent doctor Cassidy" Kyra said "Don't you think you should be the one to take a look?" Kyra turned towards the woman with intensity in her eyes.

"He'll keep doing that all night there is nothing we can do can we just go?" Sarah said annoyed.

"Oh I'm sorry I didn't know we were leaving together" she replied innocently peeking inside the cell from the glass on the door. "Calm down Earl. What's the matter?"

"They told me to get out or they'll kill me" he whispered with tears in his eyes.

"Earl, listen to me. There is nobody in the room. See that camera up there?" she said pointing to the ceiling inside his cell "If there was anybody at all, doctor Arkham and the guards would know. Ok?" she said as the man looked down.

"Ok?" she repeated as she tried to make him focus on her face.

He nodded and backed away dizzily. He sat down on his bed and rocked slightly back and forth. Kyra smiled to herself before walking away towards Sarah. "Doesn't seem to me that he'll be doing that all night"

"Well, we'll see"

They were now at the bottom floor. They said goodbye to the nurse at the front desk and were about to leave the building when the doors burst open and manic laughter echoed in the room.

The Joker.

Two of the guards were holding the tall man tightly by the arms as a third one was pointing a taser gun behind his head. He was wearing a purple heavy coat and green vest along with purple striped trousers. He was still wearing makeup and his hair was greasy and green. But what Kyra noticed was the blood dripping down his nose and lips.

Dr. Hugo Strange was walking behind them as they brought him in. The two women stepped aside and as the clown passed by them, he gave them an evil grin, spreading all the way to his ears.

"Keep going" one of the guards said pulling him forward. Doctor Strange put his hands in his pockets and stood in front of them as all three stared at the clown dragged to the upper floor.

"Batman caught him" he began "He will be trialed in four weeks. Until then, we have to figure out if he's really crazy"

"Well that's easy" Sarah said "I call dibs" she continued, raising her hand.

"Sorry Miss Cassidy. But I will be handling this situation. Mr. Arkham wants to play this pretty close to the chest.

"Oh maaan" she replied disappointed.

"And how are you today Miss Johnson? Did any of the patents have the flu today?" he said turning to Kyra and Sarah giggled beside her.

"No just five cases of attempted suicide that probably came from the fact that you refuse to treat your patients with the correct medication and care" she smiled politely. The man raised his eyebrow and kept walking.

"I would suggest you keep your opinion about other people's jobs to yourself. Since you don't know how they're done" he said spitefully.

She rolled her eyes and turned to the exit, making a mental remark to check on the new patient. Because she knew, that blood dripping down his nose, was fresh.

And it didn't come from no Batman.
