A/N: This ones a little sadder than my other poem-fics. Perhaps because My First Kiss is, well, comical, and in I Will Always Love Him, the ending turns out alright. But this one's a bit more… distraught? I kind of like it- definitely different.

Disclaimer: Harry Potter is J.K. Rowlings.

Summary: Love is not for the faint of heart. But you can't go back, once you fall and it starts.

He's a bastard, they say,

We should destroy him.

Painfully she realizes its true –

He has committed a sin.

Thankfully, her heart is safe,

Because him they cannot find.

A mad genius, they remark,

He's out of his mind.

Brilliant but cruel,

He has killed them all,

When he forced his head of house

To make Dumbledore fall.

The white tomb is raised.

They need to catch the free.

They need to catch the one he loves,

The one he desires to see.

But it's a mystery.

Who does he hold dear?

Who would he risk everything

Just to know she's safe and near?

A mystery, admittedly,

So they take it to the one with brains.

She seems to ponder for awhile.

It's hard – he, after all, is insane.

It stumps even she.

Regrettably, she admits defeat.

So the Boy Who Lived sighs,

And rises from his seat.

But before he leaves,

Her eyes catch in the light.

He realizes that she is fighting the sobs,

Fighting the tears with all her might.

So he consoles her, and he loves her,

And tells her it will be alright.

He tries to throw away the memory

Of him falling from her sight.

She begs him to leave –

He does whatever she says.

He leaves the girl with heartbreak;

He leaves the room a mess.

She slowly takes out a locket

And holds it to her heart.

She tries to fight the tears,

But feels the sobs begin to start.

For in that locket was a picture,

A secret one, of course.

It shows a forbidden relationship,

But she can't seem to muster remorse.

Because in the picture she's happy,

You can see it through and through.

They're wrapped around each other

And everyone can see the love is true.

It seems impossible

For such a girl as she

Because despite the man being a fugitive

The one she loved was he.
