"Reid, you've done this trick like, a million times. What difference is this one going to make?" Penelope asked. Garcia, Prentiss, and JJ were gathered around Dr. Reid's desk, just as they always were when he set off one of his film canister rockets.
"I made an adjustment to something, but a magician never reveals his secrets. It should go farther this time." The doctor replied. "Now turn around."
The three sighed and turned their backs while Spencer quickly filled the film canister with what was needed, then shook it up and set it down.
"Okay, turn around and watch," he told them. They sat for a few moments as the canister began to fizz. Suddenly, it shot up into the air, causing all three women to jump. Reid smiled and laughed.
"Where'd it go?" Emily asked. There was a small clang as the canister hit the window of Aaron Hotchner's office. Reid winced, as he knew what was coming next.
"Found it," Garcia remarked before the three went back to their desks.
Hotchner came out of his office and picked up the canister at his feet. He immediately walked over to Spencer's desk, placing the canister firmly in front of the young doctor.
"Physics magic again, Reid?" He asked, his face stern, his eyes focused on the man in front of him.
"Y-yes, sir," Reid replied nervously. Oh, boy, am I going to get it this time⦠he thought, gritting his teeth.
Hotchner raised his hand. Reid pulled back slightly, fearing a hit from the older man's hand. Instead, the hand came down softly on his shoulder to pat him.
"You're finally getting some good distance on those rockets," Hotch smiled. He leaned down and kissed the doctor's cheek. "Good work, Reid." He walked away, a smile upon his usually upset-looking face.
Reid began to blush furiously and rub his face where Hotch had kissed him. He smiled, already beginning to think of new tricks to use to impress his superior.
