Prelude: The Dimension-verse
When the Dimension-verse came into being, the Master created a multitude of parallel dimensions to populate it. Each one barred from the other by impenetrable gates. After all, if an elf and a jet-pack wearing guy with a blaster rifle meet, compatible is not the first word that comes to mind.
And the Master eventually got tired of running all the work of maintaining the Dimension-verse himself, as would any cosmic entity with eternal existence would. And the Master realized that he could create others to do the chores for him, and so the concept of leadership in its purest sense was born. Really. The Master created the Guardians, beings with portions of his power to maintain each dimension. Groups of dimensions formed sectors. And all went on as it did. Then... the Guardians of Sector 235242 got as bored as the Master had once been. They formed a conclave to arrange a reasonable solution that could executed once the Master took his millennium-long nap. Their discussion went like this:
(Note: The Master was lazy and felt no reason to bother giving original names to unimportant subordinates, i.e. the Guardians.)
235242-A: So we have all but one voting for dimension mess-arounds.
235242-B: We did that the last three-thousand conclaves!
235242-C: Well, do you have any better ideas?
235242-B: Look, we've fiddled with everything possible in all our sector's dimensions. I don't want to risk trouble with 235243 or 235244, ok?
235242-D: Hold on. What if we combined our dimensions into one? That's new, right?
(Applause of insane proportions)
And that was that.

Note: The way this will work from now on go like this. Reviewers are politely requested to include, if they so wish, a group of two or three characters that he/she wants to interact in the chapter following the currently updated one.
To prevent myself from writing in characters that I have no understanding what so ever about, I limit the choices of characters to these (for starters):
