I absolutely adore Luna Lovegood and I hope that I have written her sorting well.

"Lovegood, Luna." Professor McGonagall called to the small line of remaining first years.
A tiny girl skipped forwards towards the stool. Her robes shifted and revealed to the entire hall bright yellow shoes which matched the yellow specks on her strange necklace. She sat down with a thump on the wooden stool.
Professor McGonagall placed the battered hat on her blonde head and it fell down over her eyes.
"Well, well, what an unusual mind." A little voice spoke in her ear.
"Oh, hello!" Luna cried happily, not realising that she was one of the only people to have spoken out loud to the hat. The other students stared at her, not quite believing what they were seeing.
Luna could hear surprise in the hats voice as it replied to her, "Students don't normally talk back to me."
"Well I think that that is incredibly rude of them. I talk back to everyone who speaks to me because it is polite and my mother taught me to always be polite."
"Your mother is a wise woman."
"I thought so too." Luna beamed.
"She must be proud of your smarts. The oddness could worry some people though."
"Daddy taught me that nobody can tell you how to be yourself, only you can see inside your heart. I don't think I care if my oddness worries people."
"And that is what makes me believe that you could be a great Gryffindor." The hat said.
"My parents weren't Gryffindors but I have heard that is a very noble house, I would be honoured to be a part of that family."
"But that is the loyalty that could place you in Hufflepuff."
"Hufflepuff is a lovely house, I think I could find friends there. Oh! And daddy says that sun colours are good luck."
Luna heard the hat sigh in frustration that she couldn't understand, she was only trying to show that she liked each house.
The hats voice took on a sly tone, "You like each house do you? Even Slytherin?"
"I don't see a problem with Slytherin; they don't care what people think of them and from what I can see everyone has made good friends."
"You certainly haven't made things easy for me."
Luna's faint eyebrows creased and she immediately began to worry. "I'm awfully sorry Mr Hat. Please put me in the house that you think is best, you are the professional and I trust you."
If a hat could blush 'Mr Hat' certainly would have done; in all his years no one had treated him with as much respect as this fairy-like girl had done. The hat became smug, everything she had said was correct, she certainly knew a lot, perhaps some things that other people would not believe, but a lot nonetheless.
The hat immediately knew where to place her, the rip opened and he roared, "Ravenclaw!"
"Thank you Mr Hat! This house will make me feel close to my parents. Have a lovely night." Luna gently took the hat off and placed it carefully on the stool. The hall began to clap in confusion as the blonde girl drifted dreamily towards her new house table. She sat down, collected her robes and waited patiently for the next student to be called forward.
If the students were half as nice as Mr Hat, she was going to love Hogwarts.

So here is another short one shot regarding Luna, my favourite character, I really hope you liked it! I ended it with a touch of irony as the majority of students do not treat her nicely.
Who's your favourite character and why?
I love Luna because of her blatant honesty and open mind, she's a truly relatable character and I have been compared to her on several occasions (which I love!).
