There were so many things he loved about her.
He loved her dark red hair and shining almond-shaped emerald eyes,
He loved the way that when she asked a question she would tilt her head slightly to the left, her eyes full of innocent curiosity.
He loved the way that when she was writing an essay she would stop and close her eyes while trying to think of something more to write.
He loved the way she always put others first before thinking of herself.
He loved watching her tutor first-years who were having trouble in charms or potions.
He loved the fact that when he passed her notes in History of Magic, she would write back long replies instead of the usual "Sod off Potter I don't give a damn" that she would have written a year previously.
He loved saying her name. Oh she had the most beautiful name and it was for that reason why her name suited her perfectly.
He loved sitting next to her under their tree beside the lake. His arm around her with neither of them saying anything. They didn't need to.
He loved watching her sit in an armchair in the common room reading a book (like he was doing now).
As if sensing his eyes on her, she looked up. When she saw him looking at her, her face broke into a smile. That was another thing he loved about her; Her Smile. When she smiled it was a genuine one and she had a special smile that she saved for him. She was smiling that smile now.
She patted the armrest next to her. He got up and walked over to her and sat on the armrest. He leaned down and captured her lips in a soft and gentle kiss.
"I love you" she whispered.
"I love you too" he replied.
That was what James loved most about Lily.
She loved him and he loved her.
She was his Lily.
