Kagami was laying in bed, mentally tired and a bit bored after four rough hours of studying, when the phone rang. With a groan, she rolled over, and blindly grasped at the phone for a few times before finally managing to snag it out of her bed rest. She put it next to her ear, yawning.

"Yes?"

"Hey, Kagamin!" Said a very high-pitched voice- one very familiar to Kagami. "Are you free tonight?"

"I am. Why, Konata? Don't you dare say you want to copy all my homework again." Threatened the lilac haired girl, trying to fake an annoyed voice and failing miserably, only showing just how tired she was.

"Wow, Kagamin, you okay? You usually have more bite than that. I was just planning a sleepover."

"A sleepover... seems good to me. Sorry, when should I go?"She asked, feeling that familiar warm feeling inside.

For some ungodly reason she just loved the company of that blue haired midget. Even with all the teasing and weird chats they always have, her definition of 'happiness' was to be in the same place as Konata.

'And isn't that pathetic,' thought Kagami. 'I wonder what she's scheming in that twisted, little mind of hers…'

"You know you're more than welcome any time, Kagamin. But maybe... . How about after 8? This way we can have dinner here and everything. Dad's gone for work, and Yutaka is with Cousin Yui, so we are gonna be all alone. Sounds fun?" There was something... peculiar in her best friend's tone of voice.

"You know you sound incredibly suspicious, right?" She asked, her own tone of voice settling for dryness. "Never mind, that sounds good. Be there at- wait. Did you say we'd be alone?"

'Is the room warmer?' She thought, absent-mindedly fanning at her face with her free hand.

"Mmmh. I did say that, didn't I?" There was that familiar teasing tone. "Why, don't you want to stay all night here with little, old me? Or maybe... maybe my Kagamin wants that too much, huh?" And the laughter. She fanned herself a little faster.

"Wh-just what are you implying, Konata?"

"Nothing, nothing. Heheheh, Kagamin sure is shy tonight." Said Konata, voice both infuriating and embarrassing her further.

"Shut up!" She demanded, realizing she would be no match for Konata in a long-distance verbal game.

"As you wish! And -oh, gotta go, see ya soon, Kagamin!" And with that, Konata hung up.

The train was almost on its destiny. The people inside were growing anxious to leave, and so was Kagami. Her mind was driving her insane- Konata was driving her insane. She knew her friend was up to something, she just knew. And Konata is just unpredictable, so it could be anything.

'Ugh…let's just let that train go... . My head will explode if things continue like this, that little midget, devious, little- wonderful, and- what. Stop, stop. Let's not go there now.'

Kagami went to Konata's house with her mind full of those kind of thoughts. She ringed the bell, and waited. And waited some more. Finally, after about two minutes, she heard a glaringly loud explosion noise coming from her friend's window.

"Konata!" She screamed.

"Kagamin? Come in, come in! The door is unlocked." Came Konata's voice, slightly muffled amid the other, shooting and exploding noises.

She opened the door and stepped in, taking out her shoes and placing them next to Konata's. She closed the door, and went to her friend's room, only to find her turning in her chair, her fingers blazing across the controller.

"Be gone, you beasts! You shall feel the fury of Overlord Konata!" The aforementioned overlord declared in an over-the-top, cheesy voice. Kagami just stared.

"Sometimes I wonder if there is any hope for you." She murmured, even as she moved to close the distance between them by sitting on the bed.

That game done, they played some Nintendo fighting game for a few hours- "It's Super Smash Bros, Kagamin. How can you not know this?" - and then Konata went to the kitchen to finish dinner while she continued playing. It would apparently be a simple affair of grilled fish, stir-fried vegetables, steamed rice and miso soup. Unknown to her, Konata did everything with a big, suspicious grin on her face.

Kagami felt a cold shiver running down her spine.

When dinner was finally ready Konata called her from the dining room with a strangely ominous 'Come see your surprise!'. Kagami wondered what that would be, her mind working extra-hard in coming up with the most ridiculous scenarios.

She was not prepared- in heart and mind, for what she saw when she entered the dining room.

Konata was there, wearing nothing but a white apron, staring at Kagami with those huge eyes of hers, and an equally big grin. Her face was slightly flushed, Kagam noticed, before her brain shut down completely. She could feel the flaming heat from her face, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't stop staring at all the exposed flesh in front of her.

Seeming to realize this, her devious friend slowly-so slowly- turned, allowing her the full sight of her body. In a very distant part of Kagami's mind, she realized she could probably fry an egg on her cheeks right now, they were so hot.

Almost as if on auto-pilot, she found herself walking next to the barely clothed Konata. Her arms were trembling when they came up to catch the much-smaller girl in an overwhelmingly close hug. She couldn't think properly-her mind was made of cotton balls at that point.

"See something you like, Kagamin?" Whispered Konata from between her breasts, her voice equal parts teasing and anxious. Kagami gulped.

With monumental effort, she finally opened her mouth to reply in way that wouldn't make her sound like cave-woman.

"A-and if I do?"

"Then," Konata whispered back, peering up at her face with a lovely little smile on her face, "Then I say you should open your surprise gift."

Kagami gulped even harder.

She tentatively ran her hands over Konata's naked, so very naked back, before letting them both rest at the slightly widening hips. Konata's answering, ridiculously sensual moan had her stammering and feeling breathless.

"A-and, um. And the... the dinner? And the dinner?" She asked, trying to stall whatever would come next, even while her mind supplied so many different images of what would come.

"We can re-heat later." Mumbled her devious friend, that mess of blue burying in her shirt. She yelped when she felt Konata's hands doing their own exploring on her back, and she was thankful-so thankful that she was actually wearing clothes right now.

"A-ah," she finally murmured, her voice going at least two octaves up when Konata's little hands found her butt. "Right here?" She squeaked.

With a little, husky laugh, Konata brought her face up again, peering right back. It was the most flushed Kagami had ever seen her friend-'Should I even call her that, anymore?'- and it was then she realized she was absolutely lost.

"I would much prefer the bed, Kagamin. I had a-mmh-I have something special there." And then her voice dropped to a barely audible mixture of a whisper and a moan. "Just. For. Us... ."

Kagami felt the metaphorical threads of her willpower snapping.

"Oh-oh wow, that was... wait, pause. Pause-I said pause, woman. Stop! I surrender!" Cried Konata, shifting away from Kagami's hunched form in the bed in a breathless hurry, her tiny arms sneaking across and grabbing at the available blankets to cover her sweaty, sweaty form.

Kagami crawled a bit more towards Konata's cowering form, before she finally dropped down on the bed in glorious exhaustion. She could feel the rational parts of her mind slowly coming back to her, and-well, wasn't that a surprising turn of events.

"Mmmmtah?" She tried to enunciate, mumbling into the mattress.

The blue haired girl slowly, ever so slowly slipped a foot out of her blanket fortress, and she used the tip of her toe to poke, poke at Kagami's exposed, equally sweaty back. Satisfied that the taller girl wouldn't jump out and thoroughly ravish her again, she finally flopped down next to her.

"Mmmh?" She mumbled back, a wide, satisfied grin on her face.

Kagami shifted, so she could peer at Konata's face. With a lot of effort, she brought one of her hands to gently cup the other girl's cheeks, her thumbs brushing gently at a few running trails of sweat.

"Thank you." She murmured, closing her eyes with a satisfied smile.

She heard some shuffling and creaking, before the now very familiar sensation of Konata's arms embraced her naked torso, slipping under her own arms. She dared not open her eyes to look at Konata, irrationally afraid of what she would find there. Kagami shifted a bit when Konata's mouth planted a few, tiny kisses on her shoulder. Something stirred and tingled down there, but she was too tired, and honestly, too satisfied to do something else about that.

"Ah, my silly Kagamin. I should be thanking you. I didn't...," Konata's voice trailed off, and Kagami opened one of her eyes, surprised. When was Konata ever out of words? "...This was the best possible route."

"Please don't ruin the moment." She groaned.

"No, no!" She could feel Konata's face turning with the comment, and it brought a bigger smile to her face.

"It's just... I've been waiting for so long, you know? So long! And you never took any of my hints. That was so infuriating... but it was worth it, you know? This... this was the best. The absolute best. SS plus and everything." She felt a nod against her shoulders, and despite her earlier comment, she chuckled.

"I know how you feel. And I'm sorry, for being such a coward. I couldn't-I wouldn't take the first step."

"And the second, and the third, and fourth... Kagamin, I had to walk you all the way to here." She felt a muscle above her eye tick, but she knew Konata was right.

They laid there, enjoying the comforting presence of each other for a good long while, before, not entirely unsurprisingly, Kagami's stomach announced to the world that it should be fed, and soon. Konata's answering, breathless laughter had her face feel warm again.

With an hesitant gentleness uncharacteristic of her, Konata disentangled herself from Kagami, and slowly left the bed with promises of returning with food soon. She closed her eyes, wondering why Konata hadn't started walking downstairs yet when she felt and heard a loud, wet kiss to her back, and the devious girl finally ran downstairs laughing at her half-assed attempt at a slap.

Not long after, she opened her eyes to see Konata's upside-down face staring back at her. Kagami blinked once, twice, before closing her eyes again.

"Aw. Is Kagamin gonna ignore the delicious meal her wife prepared with such love and care? And it looks so good, too..." Konata's voice trailed away, but by now she could recognize the teasing strands in her friend-lover's tone.

"Just... tired," she replied, opening her eyes again to smile at Konata, and completely ignoring the wife comment.

Kagami sat down with some difficulty, and accepted an offered plate filled with food with appreciation. Konata sat down on the bed next to her, and they ate mostly in silence, broken only when Konata would sneakily poke at some exposed part of her body with her toes. Kagami had no idea the girl was so talented in using those.

Once they were done, the blue-haired girl took the plates and unceremoniously placed them under the bed. Kagami felt she should probably berate her for that later, when Konata sat back down and looked at her with probably the most serious expression she had ever seen.

"K-Konata?" She stuttered slightly, but... that gaze was unnerving.

Konata scooted closer, until their legs were touching.

"Kagamin... where do we go from here?" She asked in a very tiny voice. Kagami felt the strange impulse to just hold Konata close and coo at her.

She gulped. "Where... where do you want us to go?" She deflected. She was not ready to talk about the extent of her feelings, not without an opening first.

"Anywhere," came the honest answer. "Everywhere. I don't wanna sound cheesy here, Kagamin, but... I've liked you for a long time. I'll go as long as you want, and not further."

Kagami was impressed, though she raised an eyebrow at that. "That's... considerate of you."

She regretted her words almost instantly, as Konata opened her eyes a bit wider, and then smiled that fake, fake smile at her. She hated that smile...

"Hey," she said softly, and brought her right hand up to cup Konata's cheek, her thumbs brushing against the slightly quivering lips. "I'm sorry, okay? I say things I don't mean sometimes. You know how I can be."

Konata smiled, but said nothing else. She sighed, and used her hands to bring the smaller girl into an awkward hug. She distantly thought they should both probably take a good, long shower.

"I honestly don't know," she began, and tightened her hold when Konata trembled a little. "I've... liked you for a long time, too. Well, you probably knew, but, still... I'm a coward, Konata. I'm scared-what if... what if this doesn't work? What if... what if we end up hating each other?"

Konata shook her head fiercely, her blue, sprawling hair going everywhere, and she looked up.

"I could never hate you, Kagamin. Annoyed, at the most. And I don't want to lose your friendship, or even Tsukasa's, if something happens, but... I want to try. The hero never saves the princess if they don't leave the first area, you know?"

Kagami wanted to groan, she really did, but a smile slipped out instead. Konata smiled right back, and it made her feel extra funny. She lowered her head, her nose bumping a bit against Konata's forehead, and she took the opportunity to plant a kiss there.

She chuckled a bit. "We're being absolutely ridiculous, aren't we?"

Konata nodded, her face serious for all of a moment before she broke into a giant grin.

"Big pussies."

"It's not gonna be easy," she cautioned, but Konata just grew happier. "I know I'm not perfect-we both aren't- but... I want to try it. Try... this."

"Awwww," Konata cooed, turning her head up so she could brush her nose against Kagami's. "Is Kagamin too embarrassed to say the word?"

"Shut up," she replied with absolutely no heat. "Girlfriends! Th-there, I said it. I want us to try being girlfriends. Girlfriends! Happy?"

Konata nodded furiously, a big, big smile on her face.

"Absolutely!" She seemed to be vibrating in excitement. "Oh, this is the best flag ever! Tsundere Route never disapp-ow!"

She lowered her hand, still somewhat ready to bap at her new girlfriend's head again. Konata pouted a bit, brushed their noses together again and sneaked in a kiss before leaning back down, giggling a bit.

"...What?" She asked, somewhat apprehensive. Konata giggling invariably followed some terrible joke.

"I guess this answers the question!" The blue-haired girl announced, her tone of voice joyous. She leaned back, breaking the awkward hug and pointed at the apron that had been hastily discarded some time earlier. Kagami followed the pointing, and blushed lightly.

"...Dare I ask what question?"

"The question of which one of us wears the apron!" A pause. "Ow! I'm sensitive, woman!"

Kagami lowered her hand again. "You're an idiot, that's what you are."

Konata just grinned. "But I'm your idiot, right?"

She paused, and then smiled warmly, it only growing when Konata took that opportunity to sprawl over her, her head nesting between her breasts.

"Yeah," she decided, finally. "I'm probably going to regret this later, but... yeah. You're my idiot, Konata."
