It was over now, finally, after years of work it was over.
Of course it hadn't been easy. There was lots of violence and deaths. Sammy's death had hit Dean hard, more than he would like to admit. There was no way to get him back now, but he was happy in his own heaven.
Cas had been there to help Dean through it, even though he wasn't that good at comforting it was better to have an awkward pat on the shoulder than nothing. There were some days when Dean thought he couldn't go on, the road had gotten to tough. He practically almost committed suicide when he walked into a job to do with demons with no weapons, Cas had zapped him out of there in time. He knew he had to fight to the end, he had to fight for all those people who had given their lives for it.
Now it had come to this, the seals were closing, everyone here they should be.
Demons in Hell.
All the angels in Heaven.
ALLthe angels, even Cas.
It would take a few moments, but it would still work. Dean and Cas stood outside on the field, this would be the last time either of them would see each other again.
"Will we ever see each other again?" Dean asked even though he knew the answer.
"If I'm lucky." Cas replied knowing full well that he wouldn't.
Dean nodded his head and clenched his teeth and his eyes watered slightly.
"Buddy, I love you" Dean said in a joking manner, they both knew he really meant it but it would be too hard on them if it wasn't a 'joke'.
Cas nodded, "Goodbye Dean", Dean knew that Cas would never say it back.
"Well," Cas cleared his throat and looked into Dean's eyes, " Dean I- "
And Cas was transported back to heaven forever, leaving Dean on his own on the field, alone in life. Like he always was.
