This is my special B-day present to all of you, since, well, it's my 15th birthday. I know I've been dormant lately but I'm on hiatus because I felt I was starting too much stuff and never finishing it. But I'll be back new years day with a crap load of stories. Including, like, seven new oneshots, two new finished stories and the return of "All We Know"!
What made me think about this I'm not sure, but it's a pretty old idea that I finally decided to write. This takes some time during the episode The Runaway and probably when both Sokka and Toph were out spending money without Aang. It's short, but it's better than nothing.
Avatar Promise, huh?
"Where did Sokka and Toph go?" Katara asked angrily. Her hands were crossed over her chest and she tapped her bare foot against the grass in uneven paces.
"Huh?" Aang questioned when he walked up, drying his hair with a towel from their water bending lesson.
"Toph and Sokka, they're gone."
"I don't know where they went…" Aang breathed, he didn't like lying but he hated to be in the middle of someone else's fight—he had enough of that already.
"Oh, come on you know they're off scamming, you can just tell me."
"I-I'm serious…I don't know….where they are." He smiled weakly at her and shrugged once his very convincing statement was over.
"Mm hmm, sure Aang….you know what ever happened to that 'Avatar Promise' you gave me before all this started? How you said you wouldn't do anymore scams?" Katara hooked him.
"Oh…well you see….Sokka and Toph are very-"
"Save it." Katara cut him off, holding up her and in a stopping motion. "This isn't any of my business anyway, right?" Katara sounded sarcastic this time, turning away from Aang and poking out her lower lip.
"I'm sorry, but I'm not off scamming with them right now so I kind of kept my promise." Aang tried to cover for himself and touched her shoulder while he spoke. Katara immediately turned around.
"So they are off scamming, I knew it!" Katara yelled triumphantly.
"Wait Katara!" Aang called when she ran off. Worried, he followed after her. "Katara, where are you going?"
"Into the city, I'm going to catch those little sneaks red handed…I know their hiding something."
"Katara…" Aang sighed, lowering his head in front of his neck.
"What?" She scowled.
"Don't go and bring more attention to this…just let it go." He fanned his hands downwards, trying to calm her obviously burning temper.
"But…."
He grabbed her shoulders again, more firmly. "Katara. Let. It. Go. Okay?" He shook her a little when his sentence was done and Katara rubbed her forehead.
"Alright, alright." She agreed. After all she could never say no when Aang held her like that.
"Avatar promise?" Aang teased, a crocked smile forming on his lips.
"Katara promise, to be exact, but okay." They both shared a small laugh and Aang informed her that he was going to get some water so she could to start dinner.

Later that night after Katara found out about Toph's wanted poster, and even more surprisingly agreed to pull a scam with her Aang met Katara in her tent before she went to sleep.
"Aang, what are doing in here?" Katara asked, startled when she found Aang sitting on her sleeping bag, arms crossed.
"Katara Promise, huh?"
Yeah, I know. Weird story, weird ending. But, hey, you know how I am. Oh, and for future reference, if I go ever go on a hiatus again, just check my livejournal, I always have the latest news on my stories there. The link is at my profile.
