Shapeshifting

This was seriously the best skin he had ever taken. Well, there was that one guy... wait, no, this was definitely the best skin. He always had a mirror handy to check himself out just after he changed because, hell, who wouldn't? Especially when his new skin was this good. He smirked and wow, he could see how so many women had fallen for that.

He knew loads had, he could remember them. Those were some memories he was keeping. He looked back at the mirror, such an improvement on the face he was born with, it was unbelievable.

So far he had only taken the most basic facts about Dean's life so he could fool the brother, but already he could tell it was going to be a hell of a lot more interesting than anyone else's life. Mother killed by some unknown evil? Growing up killing anything and everything supernatural? That would beat a nine-to-five job any day. God, normal people's lives were so boring. It was like a soap opera with all the interesting bits cut out. Graduate from high school, get a job, meet someone nice, fall in love, get married, have kids, he'd seen it a thousand times and it had never failed to bore him completely.

He used to wish he could have something like that for himself, that he could live his own life instead of stealing someone else's. Oh well, if he couldn't live that perfect life, he'd make sure he'd ruin as many others as he could. Besides, murder made everything so much more interesting.

He and Dean were similar in that they'd lived on the outside of society for as long as they could remember. They'd tried fitting in only to have it thrown right back in their faces. But Dean was foolish enough to care about other people, which was something he'd never really done because motherly love? Maternal instinct? They were a complete joke and it had all been downhill from there.

He shut his eyes and reached for Dean's mind, just a few more facts and he'd be good to go. He found the edge of Dean's mind a pushed a little further, people always had barriers, especially around their most sensitive thoughts and memories, but they always just plain sucked when they came under this kind of attack. He searched for information about Dean's brother, sifted through all the emotional shit because he really didn't need that and then let it flow into him. It was kind of an uncomfortable feeling and it always took him a moment to sort through everything afterwards. Still, it was better than the first time he tried it, which had left him sprawled on the floor with a splitting headache and a severe identity crisis.

So, Sam seemed like he might offer a bit of a challenge, which was always fun. Yeah, it was nice tying up helpless women and hurting and finally killing them, but sometimes someone who fought back was a little more satisfying. It gave him more of a reason to kill them in the end, not that he didn't have plenty of reason after everything that had been done to him when he was younger, but, you know, he still had occasional attacks of conscience. It was easier to live with himself when he sometimes picked someone who could fight back. Sammy was ridiculously smart and had been trained for this kind of thing, he was expecting it (or he should be, anyway), he could certainly be considered a challenge. Not one that couldn't be overcome, though, Sam did love his brother and would probably hesitate to shoot him, shapeshifter or not.

Then, when he got the upper hand, oh there were so many things he could say to Sammy. Dean kept so much bottled up, his mind had a wealth of guilty thoughts he'd never in a million years mention. Then, he could leave Sam to mull all this over, which would be torturous because Sam's freakishly large brain did far too much thinking and he could go use Dean's good looks to his advantage, probably get in a little quality time with Rebecca. He had it all planned out.

He was going to enjoy this.
