The Simple Things

Since she had Elsa back in her life, Anna found that it was the simple things that she enjoyed the most. For instance, just getting to look at Elsa every day. Of course, to most people this would seem silly, but not to Anna, who had rarely seen Elsa during the thirteen years they were separated. There were other things she enjoyed too such as talking about the weather or going for walks around the castle. It was like they were getting to know each other for the first time, even though they've known each other their entire lives. It was so wonderful, Anna couldn't even begin to explain it. At the moment, she was sitting in Elsa's office watching her fill out important documents that were to be sent to nearby kingdoms. The room was quiet as Anna knew that Elsa needed to concentrate. Nonetheless, she still enjoyed being in Elsa's company and getting the chance to watch her work. As Elsa completed another form, she could feel Anna's eyes upon her. She turned to face her sister, who smiled brightly at her.

"What is it?" Elsa asked.

"Oh, nothing," Anna replied.

With that, Elsa returned to her work. She filled out another form, before again sensing the presence of her sister's eyes upon her. Once again, she addressed the situation.

"Is there something you want to tell me, Anna?" Elsa asked.

"It's nothing. I just like watching you work," Anna explained.

Elsa laughed. "Watching me work? I can't imagine how that would be any fun."

"Oh, it is for me. You're so professional and focused. You're such a great queen."

"Thank you, Anna. That means a lot to me," Elsa said.

More forms followed, and Anna watched the entire time. As much as Elsa enjoyed having Anna with her, she still found it confusing why Anna enjoying staring at her. Once she finished her current form, she brought the subject up.

"Isn't there something you'd rather do, Anna? It's a beautiful day outside. I'd go out with you, but I have a lot of work to do."

"Like I said, Elsa, I just enjoy being in your company."

"And I enjoy being in your company too, but this can't possibly be that fascinating."

"Oh, but it is. I'm not used to getting to see you all the time. So things like this are special to me."

Elsa faced Anna with a curious look on her face. "Really? What else do you find special about me?"

"Everything!" Anna answered. "But really it's the simple things that I love the most. You know, eating breakfast with you in the morning, taking long walks, getting to hug you every day, and even watch you while you're working. Those are the things that mean the most to me."

"I see. That's very nice. Those are the kinds of things that a lot of people take for granted. I'm glad that you treasure them so dearly. I do as well," Elsa said.

"Hey, Elsa," Anna began.

"Yes, Anna," Elsa replied.

Even that was special to Anna. Just having Elsa respond to her whenever she wanted to talk with her was special to Anna. For years, Anna dreamed what that would be like, but nothing could compare her to when it actually happened.

"Can I give you hug?" she asked. "I know it's random and all, and I know you're working, but I just thought…

"Of course, you can give me a hug, Anna. I would love a hug," Elsa said.

Anna walked over to her sister, wrapped her arms around her, giving her the biggest hug, she could give. She held on tightly, embracing the moment. Yep. It was the simple things about having Elsa back that Anna loved best.
