Simon has a red convertible.

Steven has a gray spaceship.

Really, how do you compare them?

She's wanted a red convertible since she was a kid.

She never in her wildest dreams thought she'd get to even see a real space ship.

Simon's a kind, a nice person.

Steven is a commander.

Simon's never understood what its like to have people's lives depending on your decisions.

Steven's had people's lives depending on him for far longer then she has.

She wonders why, when Steven's near she can't even remember what Simon looks like, and yet, when she's alone, its always Simon she sees.

She didn't even realize she was comparing them until the moment she spoke without thinking. Rodney had glared at her for not listening to what he was saying and he still won't tell her what she said, but she remembers word for word the very long lecture he gave her, about if she didn't pay attention, she wasn't going to live long enough to choose between Simon or Steven.

She bribes him with coffee and chocolate to keep him from saying anything.

She can tell it annoys him that she's acting like a school girl with a crush, but so far he hasn't spoken a word.

And he understands.

And that, at least, makes her feel better.

Sometimes she wishes she could have fallen for Rodney instead.
