Disclaimer: Not mine. In a nutshell!

Hermionie was beginning a new year at Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry. She was picked as head girl along with Draco Malfoy. Much to Harry and Ron's dislike, as well as Hermionie's. Not to mention they had to share a common room as well. 'Could things get any better' she thought sarcastically.

Whenever Malfoy and his friends were round her all they would do was tease and insult her. No matter how much she pleaded and shouted at him to stop all his rude remarks about her he would not relent.

Much to her surprise though Malfoy would prove he could be good company once his friends were out of sight. At times she even found herself enjoying his company. One night they had stayed up in front of the fire place talking about books, favourite and worst teachers and just about school in general. They hadn't realised the sun was coming up when they had gone to bed. 'For a Slytherin he's not that bad once he hasn't got his friends to show off to' Hermionie thought.

"Hey Granger wake up!" Malfoy shouted from the other side of Hermionie's bedroom door. "The house elves sent us up breakfast" he bellowed after hammering on her door. After 5 minutes she emerged from her room and made her way towards a table full of delicious breakfast food,

"Why did they send us breakfast? What's wrong with the Grand hall?" she enquired.

Malfoy waited for her to sit down before he began digging into the food in front of him.

"Finally" he said with a sigh. "I'm starving, you take bloody ages getting up."

"You didn't have to wait for me you know" Hermionie retorted with a roll of her eyes.

"It's ungentlemanly" looking up from his plate he continued "Dumbeldore is having a troll problem and sent breakfast up to all the common rooms this morning." the confused look on her face made gave her away "he came here this morning..." Hermionie felt ashamed for sleeping in this morning 'What must the head master think?' she added mentally.

After 10 minutes of silent eating Hermionie finally spoke up. "Draco..." He look her straight in the eye which made it all the more difficult to say what she was going to say next "Why do you insult me in front of your friends but act civilised when we are alone?" Or not. Hermionie Granger was not one to beat around the bush as muggles said.

Malfoy looked down again and kept eating trying to delay giving her an answer. Truth was he couldn't really think of an answer. He couldn't tell her he enjoyed her company. And he especially couldn't tell her the only way he could get her attention outside of their common room was to insult her. So he said the next best thing he could think of. "I have a reputation"

And with that Malfoy got up suddenly losing his appetite and made his way to his room. The was no way that Draco Malfoy the Prince of Slytherin would ever admit to himself that he was falling for a Mudblood like Hermionie Granger. 'Too late' He thought.
