Disclaimer : Idonotowninuyasha HAPPY ? stupid lawyers …
This is a one-shot and is complete ! and just a warning it IS sad ! THIS IS NOT A HAPPY STORY, lol. Just a warning. Enjoy !
It
was over, finally they had completed the mission that bound them
together :
K I L L N A R A K U
And they had done it.
But
was it really worth it ?
Was the glory of the triumph,
Worth
the agony of the loss ?
You killed him to save,
You
killed him to avenge,
The ones he had hurt so much.
But,
Not everyone wants to be saved,
Not everyone wants to be
avenged.
Now you must pay the price,
For sticking your nose
where it doesn't belong.
But there was a tremendous loss
. . . One not even the gain could redeem. He had lost his friends in
battle, strong though they were, they were still only human. Now, the
only woman who had cared for him, accepted him, was dying. He could
practically feel her life ebbing away from him, as her blood
sickingly coated her normal and lively scent. He had failed. This was
all his fault. He had sworn to protect her, even if the cost was his
own life, a vow he failed to keep.
"I'm sorry." He
whispered.
Sorry ?
Your sorry hanyou ?
Well, its a
little late, don't you think ?
You failed,
And look what it
cost her.
She smiled, assuring him everything was
okay, but it wasn't, she was dying.
"Don't be . . . You
tried, and it-it doesn't hurt so much . . . Anymore. Be-before you
go, I-I have to tell you something," He winced as her face
contorted in pain, pain he was supposed to prevent.
"Don't
move, you'll be alright, I promise." She snorted,
"Don't .
. . make a - a promise you can't . . . keep." She sighed, "So .
. . This is dying . . ." He visibly tensed at her words, she
couldn't die, not now, not when they had come so far, even fate
couldn't be that cruel. "Its okay, I - I'll always be with
you," She lifted a blood stained hand and place it just over his
heart, "right here, I-I love you InuYasha."
His breath hitched
in his throat at this. No, she couldn't love him, its not fair . .
. His life belonged to another priestess, a dead priestess. Even if
it didn't, he couldn't voice his feelings, his pride wouldn't
allow it.
Keh, Pride ?
Pride's what got you in this
boat,
And still you cower behind it ?
She's dying,
hanyou,
Make every second count.
Tell her how you feel,
Doesn't she deserve even that,
In her last minutes
?
She saw him freeze, felt him tense, and saw the uncertainty in his eyes. Just as she'd thought, he didn't love her she thought just maybe . . . Maybe she could change his mind, but no, there was no room in his heart for her. She summoned all the energy she could muster and lifted her hand to his cheek, she didn't have long. She knew it, he knew it, it was time to go. They locked gazes, for the last time, cloudy brown, to fiery amber, this was the goodbye . . . This was his last chance . . .
Tell her !
Tell her !
Stupid fool,
Can't you see,
Time is short,
She
can only wait for so long . . .
She smiled and closed her eyes, refusing to let the heartache show. Just a few moments and the pain would be gone . . . No more pain . . .
Her hand fell.
Her
body went limp.
Her ragged breathing ceased to exist.
She was gone.
Stupid hanyou,
What did she ever do to you
?
She needed to know she was loved,
That she would be
missed
And you denied her even that ?
Stupid hanyou,
You
failed her,
Again.
End.
Like it ?
Told you it was sad …
