Hotch and Prentiss' relationship had just ended. No one wanted it to happen. They loved each other, or that's what everyone thought. They seemed so perfect for each other, but some things just happen.
Hotch still loved Prentiss. He told her day after day how much he cared about her, but she still walked away. He had never told her he loved her. He wanted, no he needed her back.
Shadows fill an empty heart as love is fading.
From all the things that we are and are not saying.
Can we see beyond the scars and make it to the dawn?
Change the colors of the sky. And open up to the ways you made me feel alive.
The ways I loved you.
For all the things that never died.
To make it through the night, love will find you.
Two weeks after their break-up, Hotch went to get her back. He called her into his office. He told her to sit down in the seat across from his desk.
"Emily, I never wanted to break-up..."
"Hotch, don't do this," Emily interrupted. "I'm sorry. I know you're hurt, but it just won't work. Nothing you say can change that." Emily stood up and began to leave.
As Emily was opening the door, Hotch said, "I love you, Emily Prentiss. I always have and I always will."
Emily turned around quickly. Her eyes were tearing, but she wasn't going to break. She looked Hotch right in the eye.
"What?" Emily choked, after a few seconds of silence.
"I said I love you. You are beautiful, smart, and the most amazing woman I've ever met. I want you back. I need you back. Please don't walk away."

Emily would never walk away again. She ran into Hotch's arms. They kissed for a long time until they needed to breathe.
