I have been reading a lot of guardian fics so i thought, why not ruin this awesome idea with my horrible writing? And so, here we are. enjoy!
No one POV
She didn't know why she didn't see this coming. She should have. She knew the monsters she hunted would not stay dead, but she figured she would have centuries before they come back. And now, her sisters were paying the price for her mistakes.
The biggest and the baddest monsters had rallied, planned, and waited for the perfect moment. The moment? The winter solcest. Where things that go bump in the night, destroy instead. Out of the 100 huntresses Artemis had managed to save and recruit(although, some just appear mysteriously), only 48 made it out with their lives. And it was all. Her. Fault.
Artemis POV
"Thelia, while i am away for this solcest you're in charge of everything." the daughter of zeus bows and turns to gather the hunting teams. Yes, teams. It takes a lot to feed 100 girls. I sigh and flash to olympus. I am the first one there, other than Hestia, who offered a gentle smile before tending to her flames once more, and Perseus Jackson, who nodded his head in my direction before giving each Olympian chair the god's drink and their favorite food.
As a freshly baked silver pie appears in my lap and my mother's homemade silver herbal tea, I ponder everything that had happened to The Hero of Olympus.
I sat in my seat, grumbling to my brother about everything and nothing. 'What was so important that Hestia had to call me away from my grieving sisters? They have lost so many during the second titan war.' I wanted the answer now… than it appeared in a flash, and I wish it would disappear in the same manner.
Hestia appears with a man slumped over her shoulder, her normally calm, loving expression is overcome with panic and fear. She looks like she is ready to collapses and tears are flowing down her cheeks. I am frozen to my seat, unable to do anything but stare at her wet face.
Have you ever seen your mother cry? Felt that hopelessness that comes with witnessing that? Pray to Hera you won't have to.
After gently putting the man in a sitting position, she pleadingly turns towards us.
"My lords and ladies! Please help him! He wants die! He has saved too many of you to let him die this way! Let me adopt him, give him some sort of purpose!" her words cause a ripple of unease to pass through us.
I stand up, hesitantly inching forward, "Perseus?" the man looks up and I gasp. It is him, at least, him in appearance. It seemed as if his body was there, but he wasn't.
His hair was disheveled, his skin was pale, and his eyes… his eyes were dark, empty, and dead. He was angry or sad or anything really. Actually if I am to be honest, I couldn't tell what he was. His face was completely blank, devoid of any and all emotions. He was broken.
I heard a strangled sound behind me to see Poseidon staring at his son like he was staring at his own grave.
Percy father and Ozone Breath, sorry, Zeus, and turned towards the eldest male god.
"Lord Hades… plEAse t-tell me it Isn't true. I… I can't handle anymore. I just-" it was like his voice couldn't decide if he actually wanted to speak. It had a hint of a child to it, as if he already knew the answer and just wanted someone to tell him otherwise.
The god of the underworld looked away before forcing himself to look at the broken demigod. "I am truly sorry, Perseus. Kronos wanted to break you, hoping you would go to your family before battling her. So, she… your mother left you with a gift." He snaps his fingers and Persephone appears…
… but she's not alone.
"M'lady Artemis?" I am stirred out of my memories by a soft, unconfident voice. Perseus is standing at the foot of my throne, his hands glowing a faint reddish orange.
"Yes, hero?" he didn't look me in the eyes, he just stared at his hands. It seemed to happen every time he talked to a female, like he was calming himself down with his own powers.
"S-sally wants to k-know if she c-c-can s-stay with the h-h-h-hunters for the weekend?" Puellaphobia. That's what Percy was diagnosed with. The fear of women. It's sad really, it all happened because Athena's daughter had gone over to Kronos' side for that son of Hermes.
Percy was dangerous. He was dangerous because he was near impossible to say no to.
I found myself smiling gently at him, it was hard not to. "Of course she can, Perseus. The hunters love your sister, as do I. Is she old enough to handle a weapon? The hunters always beg me to let them teach her their skills."
I keep my voice calm, mellow, and even, like I am trying to approach a skittish doe.
He glances at me, then quickly look away when he catches my eye. He fingers the cap on his pen.
"T-thank you, m-m'lady. And I...I'm s-s-sure s-she would l-l-love that." He bows and quickly walks over to Hestia. She looks proud of him, I mean who wouldn't be? A few years ago he couldn't even be in the same room as the opposite gender without putting his sword to their throat.
Soon the rest of the Olympians flash in and Perseus stands on the male side of the room.
"Perseus! We have to ask you once more, are you ready to continue your path as a demigod? And you know this means you have to go back to camp." Perseus flinches and I glare at my father, he could barely stand in the same room as us, how could he handle the camp? On top of that, who knew if he would even be recognised?
The 17 year old had grown. His chest had filled out, his figure was still lean, but his body rippled with muscle nonetheless. The tips of his black hair ended in brown. Although he still had his sea green eyes, a spiral of fiery brown went through it.
He had also taken to wearing black, and his skin bore the marks of the blessed. Around his wrist going up to his forearm, was red, blue, and green flames. Hestia, Hades, and Hecate. Over his heart, was a heart engulfed in flames. Aphrodite and Hephaestus. On his ankles, were white wings, Hermes. On his right palm a cross, from my twin. And his blessing from me… large black and silver wings. They always spread to their full length when Perseus was nervous.
He was nervous.
Perseus gave his adopted mother a glance, then stared down Zeus.
"I'll do it."
Here i am, writing another story when i got like 4 others *sigh* im sorry…. On another note, i'm going to start another story after this!( i regret nothing) Well i pick out songs and give them to people at certain times if they fit that moment. I have like 15 chapters planned already! Ha! So be on the lookout for that! And for this story, Percy won't be as powerful as in Son of Magic. He'll still be powerful, but not as. Ok, bye! Love you!
