I was watching as my older brother, Arthur, attempted to hit his target during archery classes. I was supposed to be learning manners, like a proper young lady should. Arthur, my guardian since my parents died, wanted me to be a proper civilized lady. My other brother, Francis couldn't care less. 'Well,' I thought slyly. 'He can attempt to change who I am but it will never work. I'll never be a proper lady and there's nothing he can do about it.' With that thought in my head I quietly grabbed a bow and stood out of sight, knocking an arrow, while Arthur was being distracted by Francis and his friend Gilbert making fun of him. With a loud TWANG I released the arrow, sending it straight into the bull's-eye. I ran as he span around, angry and humiliated, and started chasing me.

Laughing, I ran into the garden and spotted a large bug sitting on a plant. I quickly picked it up, hiding, silently in the bushes. When Arthur stopped, to catch his breath, I quickly placed the bug on his shoulder. He noticed it quickly and screamed like a six year old girl. Unfortunately though, my hysterical laughter sort of gave me away.

~15 minutes later~

I was standing back at the archery range with my brothers.

"Look at you!" Arthur scolded crossly. "Covered in dirt and carrying a bow! That was no way for a lady to act! How do you ever expect to be accepted by society if you don't act as you should?"

"Well maybe I don't want to be a lady! You keep talking about what you want from me! What society wants from me! Why does nobody seem to care what I want?" I yelled angrily, hot tears stinging my eyes.

His eyes softened as he looked at me sadly. I'm sorry Mi. I know you don't want to play the role that you've been given, but there isn't much choice. As a upper-class girl you have to learn how to be a great lady. Go up to your room. Get ready for tonight's party. I promise you it'll be fun.
Sighing quietly I trekked up the spiral staircase. Making my way to my tower bedroom feeling like the trapped princess I was forced to be.
