Amy Cahill had moved on, leaving two broken hearts in her wake.
The first belonged to her ex-boyfriend, Evan Tolliver. After staying with her through the whole Vesper fiasco, she'd dumped him. It was gentle (Amy Cahill was incapable of being cruel), but, it hurt all the same, as the loss of most first loves are.
The second belonged to Ian Kabra, her long time secret admirer. After two boyfriends and repeated turn downs, he finally realized that there would be no happy ending for them. She wasn't the little fourteen-year-old bookworm of old, flushing at his suave statements; she was her own woman, and, she'd chosen someone else.
Amy was the thing that brought these two together, but, something more kept them like that. Neither knew what to call it; it wasn't love, but, it was quite close to it.
Amy Cahill broke two hearts, but, she also helped them heal.
And, when Ian finally did realize it was love, and Evan discovered that his feelings were the same, she got two letters of appreciation, and, a few years later, a wedding invitation.
