1. Dark Shadows.
"Maybe all one can do is hope to end up with the right regrets."
-Arthur Miller
There was this man.
Who stood proudly with grace and confidence.
Who spoke words of delight with charm and wittiness.
Oh how you loved to feel his breath across your skin.
Oh how you wanted to decipher his actions and see what they'd truly mean.
There was this man.
Who never spoke of his true heartache.
Who, at the dead of the dead of the night, still weeps, still awake.
Oh how you longed to by his side and comfort him.
Oh how you wanted to fill his cup with happiness until it reached it's brim.
There was this man.
Who silently kept it all to himself.
Who refused any kind of help.
His barricade-too tough, was an ice you could never melt.
So in the shadows, you sat and for him, you silently wept.
There was this man.
Living in his dark past and shadow.
His life, an mere illusion of a lush green meadow.
But deep inside, within your heart, you knew the truth.
That he bore a pain, a pain so great, it was something you wanted to soothe.
There was this man.
Who'd always be the star of the night,
The highlight of every woman's delight.
And as he struggled to keep up with his fight,
You wondered how he'd managed to fake his might.
There was this man.
Whom you watched from afar.
And it was only you who knew his scar.
And everynight, you'd listen to him, scream in his room,
And you knew,
Something dark was hidden,
behind his loon.
There was this man.
Weeping in the other side, wall in between, dividing the two of you.
There was tension in your heart as your worry grew.
You couldn't leave him, no,
For you knew, it still wasn't your cue.
He needed someone.
Someone to be with his troubles.
And you wished that someone,
If only,
that someone-would be you.
There was this man.
Whom for many years you watched.
A man whom you loved so very much.
But still you knew,
That it'll always be a sad ending for you.
because,
This was the man.
Who could never be with you.
