AkiseYukiteru. Set in the first chapter of the Paradox spin-off, with slight spoilers : allusions to the end of both that and the main series.
Warnings: Slight yandere tendencies and one-sided shounen-ai. All absolutely canon. Oh Akise.
It is a trainwreck.
In-between realities, there is an instant when Akise glances down at the boy cradled in his arms, bleeding, gasping and crying help ; an instant their eyes meet and Akise's entire world screeches to a halt and shatters.
Then it picks itself up and readily reorders itself and everything he thought he knew around this new focal point, and Akise calmly acknowledges that he has found the reason for his life.
Thirst for knowledge used to be all that defined him. Now it is barely something extra written in the parentheses of who he is, a tool for his goal, something that will let him protect this boy and make him happy, make him king, make him God.
Akise Aru isn't aware of exactly what he is yet, but he already knows he was made for this boy, that his life is going to revolve around him no matter what. This, now, is what defines him. Even if the boy may never want him, from this moment on Akise belongs to him, entirely and forever.
He doesn't know and doesn't care what the future is going to be. It doesn't matter that this will have never happened, it doesn't matter that he'll kill, it doesn't matter that he'll die ; it doesn't even matter that this boy's future is to want something else, someone else. It doesn't matter that his actions will cause the universe to crumble down to pieces around them, because Akise's only universe, all he cares about, is this boy, before Murmur even tells him his name.
"Yukiteru," he repeats, softly, and breathes.
It's love.
