A/N: I was originally going to make this a song fic, but I've got 11 other song fics going I decided to skip that.
Anyways, I might transform it one day.
Tis angst and makes me sad.
"Hold me even though I know you're leaving
and show me all the reasons you would stay
it's just enough to feel your breath on mine
to warm my soul and ease my mind
you've gotta hold me and show me now
Give me just one part of you to cling to
And keep me everywhere you are
It's just enough to steal my heart and run
Then fade out with the falling sun
Oh, please don't go
Let me have you just one moment more…"
~One Moment More, Mindy Smith
His arms tightened around her fragile body and he put his head on hers. Her soft hair brushed against his cheek and her slow and even breath caressed his chest.
He clung to her, not wanting to leave, knowing he had to. She stirred slightly and he gently kissed her eyelids.
"It's just enough—" he whispered.
"Mmm, don't go." She whispered, curling tighter to him.
"I have to."
"Why?"
he didn't answer. They both knew why he had to leave.
"Just hold me for a bit longer." She whispered.
"I can't—"
"Please," she asked, curling even closer to him.
"It's sunset."
"Watch it with me."
"One last time."
"Don't talk like that."
They rose silently and walked to the window, fingertips touching barely.
They sat on the ledge. She leant against him and he wrapped an arm around her. The westward facing window silhouetted them, happy for one moment.
He took her hand and gently kissed the finger tips. "I don't want to go." He whispered.
"Then why are you?" he didn't look at her and she sighed. "Hold me. Just hold me a bit longer."
He held her, hugged her close and kissed the top of her head as the sun faded out. Dusk fell and trapped them in the single moment.
He held up his hand, which was wet with tears. "Don't leave me." She whispered, looking up at him.
His arms tightened around her. "I'll come back."
Her chocolate eyes closed and tears spilled from them again.
"I only just found you though."
"I know. I know." He gently stroked her hair. "I'll come back and we'll—we'll finish what we started."
"Finish?" she looked up.
"Finish this start, get to the middle, together." He said. Tears were starting in his eyes now.
"Please—" he put a hand to her mouth.
"Don't ask again, or I might just say yes."
She began to cry. He held her against him as sobs racked her thin frame. "I don't want to go." He said his hands running in smooth circles on her back. "I love you."
"Why do you love me?" she asked.
"I love you for your smiles. You're neat and disorganized at the same time. I love the fact that the first time I truly met you, you but your elbow in a butter dish."
She giggled wetly. "You had to remind me didn't you."
"'Course I did love." He said and bent down to kiss her. So close that his glasses slipped forward on his nose he whispered, "I love you for the way you work on your homework in that corner with the Creevy brothers. I love your expression when you stroke Crookshanks. When you hold a baby. I love your eyes and the way you look at me. I love that you're so brave but you don't know it. I love that you love me."
His head came down slightly and their lips met.
"I have to go."
The moment was lost. The night had come.
"Please don't leave—just hold me one moment more." She whispered.
"I can't Ginny." He said so quietly.
"Please Harry." She whispered.
But he had to go. They kissed once more.
"I love you." Tears were in his green eyes.
"I love you."
And then he was gone, like he had never been there.
"Just one moment more. Just hold me once more." She whispered, shivering without his warm embrace. "Please, please Harry. Come back."
