*Twenty-five years later, 2037*
Kate sitting by the window at her and Rick's Hampton's house reflecting. She couldn't believe it; well actually she could, it had been twenty-five years since she tied the knot with her "one and done", Richard Castle. Their union has been an adventure.
Eighteen months after their wedding, she gave birth to happy and healthy twins, Cordelia Johanna and James Roy Castle; everyone who worked with Kate and Rick adored them, Cordelia and James' godparents and grandparents were no exception.
Ten years later Kate had been promoted to Lieutenant and was picked by Captain Montgomery as his replacement as he was about to retire (after Montgomery had been injured) to spend time with his family.
Alexis had also gotten married (events leading up to it where hilarious and nerve wracking because of the way Rick had acted) and now had a family of her own.
As she continued to reminisce on the past twenty five years, she didn't hear Rick walk up to her and wrap his arms around her.
"Hey beautiful, what are you thinking about?" Rick asked in a whisper.
Kate smiled as she felt his breathe on her neck and answered, "Oh how wonderful the past twenty five years have been."
Rick grinned and asked, "Well Mrs. Castle, I do have another question to ask you."
Kate looked at him and waited.
"May I have this dance?"
Right then Rick used a remote to turn on the stereo and a slow song came on and Kate said, "I would be delighted Mr. Castle."
Kate and Rick stood up and she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and the two leaned forehead to forehead and began to dance.
