A Friend Once Told Me.

Written for Jerza week, prompt 'Constellations.' Most of this is probably going to be wrong but I'm too lazy to google and check.

It was a still, cloudless night as Jellal and Erza sat together on the roof of their home, holding hands. Erza tilted her head so she could rest on his shoulder and sighed contentedly, happy to have him near and just watch the stars together, picking out all the patterns they could see without having to worry about Rune Knights or the Royal Guard. He was equally as glad, enjoying her waterfall of hair tickling his neck and bare arms faintly, liking the feeling of her cool breath on his neck and rushing slightly over his lips.

The stars reflected in their eyes, and every once in a while when they'd turn their heads to look at how the other was doing and stare for a while. They would have silly grins stretch over their faces and lean in for a quick kiss, before blushing and turning back to leaning on each other, gaze then fixed on the night sky.

They talked for a while about this and that, just happy to be a normal couple for once, before Erza made a bet with him to see how many constellations they could guess each. They pointed out Leo, Virgo, Gemini, Aquarius, and a myriad of other pictures, just having some childish fun pointing at the celestial beings and drawing over different points like dot to dot puzzles.

In the end, she beat him, having managed to catch a glance at the Big and Little Dippers and find Taurus and Pisces. He wasn't so upset, half an hour had gone by and he'd had fun. Something like pointing out constellations in the sky was relaxing and spending the time with a laughing and smiling Erza was always the highlight of any day.

After massive fits of laughter they caught their breath, leaned back on the roof, not caring how uncomfortable it was, and turning to look at each other, their hands still linked. He raised himself to his elbows to peck her on the cheek, adoring the red flush that complimented her scarlet locks. She sighed out peacefully and closed her eyes for a while as Jellal hummed a sweet tune.

"How did you know that many Erza?" She hadn't noticed when a minute ago he'd stopped humming to look at her and she managed to compose herself this time to not go pink.

"The team and I were out on a job one time last year and had destroyed a little too much to stay with a roof over our heads, it was a nice night so we didn't mind too much, Natsu lit a fire to keep us warm. Lucy wouldn't let us sleep though, too excited at being awake on such a night and immediately started talking to all of us about all the stars in the sky. Even Natsu didn't go sleep, it was really interesting and I guess I remembered most of it." She shrugged her shoulders and looked cheekily at him as he sat up again, crossed his arms and huffed with a small pout on his features.

"Cheater, you had an unfair advantage when you challenged me." Her grin grew a little as she sat up and brought him into a quick embrace, changing the subject immediately as he could no longer pretend to be miffed at her.

"That reminds me, now you owe me my prize." He started to hold her back and pulled her chin up so he had perfect access to her lips.

After separating they were grinning like idiots and they knew it, not at all caring that even though they now lived together, they would never get enough of small things like that.

"Did that suffice?"

She nodded frantically, as if never being able to convey just how much she liked it with that pretty smile still on her face. "Oh most definitely."

When she leaned in for another, Jellal didn't mind that he ended up having so little sleep that night.
