"You've been busy, huh?"
"Do you wanna have a bad time?"
"It's a beautiful day outside"
"You can't understand how this feels"
"I can't afford not to care anymore"
"Do you remember me?"
"Someday… you gotta learn when to quit"
"My special attack"
"There is nothing left for you now"
"..."
"Papyrus, do you want anything?"
Over and over and over.
It never stops.
It never ends.
Always. It comes back for more.
An endless cycle of killing.
An endless cycle of death.
What was the point, anyway? Why was he still doing this?
Why even try?
All he wants is for it to end.
All he wants is his brother back.
Maybe he could just rest his eyes for a moment… No.
As he sees that thing approach him after the 138th reset… his resolve hardens.
No more.
Before the thing can even get into a fighting stance, his eye is glowing blue and the entire corridor is filled with his magic. He can feel determination coursing through him as he focuses all of his anger, all of his bitterness, all of his HATE, on it.
His body is melting away, but he doesn't care. All that matters is that he kills that thing. It narrowly dodges an attack from his gaster blaster.
He grins as he sends another wave of bone chaos toward it.
After what seems like hours, it all stops.
Everything goes black.
Is he dead?
Then he opens his eyes, and his bedroom ceiling is the first thing he sees. Quickly, he scrambles out of bed, teleports into the forest, and watches the door. After a few minutes, the door creaks open, and out comes a human.
They're different.
There isn't a trace of dust on their clothes, and there is no knife to be seen. Still, he follows them, in disbelief. He steps on the branch, which lets out a large Crack! The human spins around, wide-eyed. He looks out from behind a tree, and waits for the human to continue walking. He walks behind them, and keeps walking after the human stops at the bridge. How many times had he done this?
"Human. Don't you know how to greet a new pal? Turn around and shake my hand…"
The human's eyes are shut tight as they turn around slowly, sticking their hand out for him to shake. His whoopee cushion goes off as their hands meet, and the human's eyes snap open, looking confused.
Please laugh. Oh god please laugh.
Their laughter rings out, and he almost gasps in relief.
It's finally over.
