Telperion and Laurelin

"Tell me the story of how the moon

Loved the sun so much he died every

Night to let her breathe"

The moon met the sun in the gods' garden

Where darkness was forbidden and the flowers

Sparkled with dew.

She was fresh green and gold and she was

The most beautiful form he'd seen,

Beneath only their creator and her people.

Every day she gave light to the garden and

Every night he waked in time only to hear her

Whisper, "good night."

And so they danced in this cycle s life around

Them breathed and grew.

But then the garden was attacked by darkness,

And the moon and sun were killed and the only

Things left of them was a single silver flower from

Him and a golden flower from her.

The moon cried for the sun and maybe their creator

Heard, because she put them both in the sky amongst

Sparkling flowers.

But still they are apart and the moon can hear his

Lady gasping for air in her flames.

And so, he takes a deep breath every night,

demanding deeper bows of the ocean and releases it

to the sun and when day comes again, he is

unconscious, in a deep sleep close to death.

And so they danced in this cycle s life around

Them breathed and grew.
