Not Alone

It was a chilly night. Clarke stood at the foot of the drop ship, staring up at the starry nighttime sky. Thinking about all that had happened over the course of their time on the earth. The place they had been sent to die… was now the place she considered her home. The delinquents she now considered her people. She couldn't help but think, maybe they thought of her as one of their own as well. The nickname princess now being said with respect; even from Bellamy Blake.

Speaking of the self-righteous bastard that had become more of her friend and co-leader than the man who wanted her dead when they had first landed. They had gravitated towards each other after the Dax incident; leaning and looking for each other's ok before proceeding with their plans. Over the last week she had learned that Bellamy had a caring side, one she had only seen with his sister, showing up as they talked about winter and making plans for shelter and food.

"You should come inside, don't want our only healer getting sick now do we?" A voice called from the entrance.

She turned slowly to see the one and only Bellamy Blake leaning up against the door of the drop ship keeping his strong gaze on her. She felt as if her soul was being pierced with those cursefully deep brown eyes. The eyes that sent a shiver down her spine every time she looked into them.

"Worried?" she said giving him a smirk as to make it seem as though he didn't affect her like he did. He smiled crookedly and shifted his weight from one leg to the other moving his hands to rest in the back pockets of his jeans.

"Who, me? Whatever made you think that princess?" he said taking the few step to stand beside her; shoulders brushing. They stand in silence for what seems an internity.

She sighed and looked back up to the sky, "You were right." She said her voice barely over a whisper.

He chuckled and cast a sidelong glance at her face, "And what was I right about?" he asked.

"Being a leader, it's crushing me. I feel that the whole camp is leaning on me and I'm just a girl, I'm 17 and I'm having to keep other's alive. Make sure no one does anything stupid. Sometimes I wish I was floated. At least I would be free from all of this." She says in a rush, scared that if she doesn't say it quickly enough someone will interrupt her.

As she spoke, Bellamy turned to look at her his face turning serious. He grasped her wrist and lightly squeezed as he spoke, "But that's just it Princess, you're not alone. I'm here to make sure that nothing happens to you. To share your burden; to lighten the load in any way I can. I know I was an ass when we got here, but Clarke, you have really convinced me that all people are good. We can do this Clarke. I know we can."

She looked into his eyes desperately trying to believe what he said. She saw the look of determination in his eyes and couldn't help but feel a jolt of confidence run through her. "Ok. We can do this." She said.

He smiled letting so of her hands. "We can do this." He confirmed.
