Crackdown, The Aftermath

The street was lined with flash metallic SUVs, crawling and cruising the steep streets of Pacific city. Inside the cars, dry cooling air-cons were turned up to full as school children watched portable DVD players, mother prattled away on their phones and anxious business men drummed their fingers on steering wheels as they pressed through static Monday afternoon traffic.

It had been seven years since 'the crackdown' as a result more people had moved to the city, house prices rose, and the cities people became affluent. The Agency had assumed total power over the city, their towers were a constant reminder to citizens of the powers that watched over them. The Agency roamed the streets at night, they cruised through the neighbourhood each morning as you collect your newspaper and, most importantly, they're watching and ready the moment you pick up a gun and threaten the city safety.

The Agency had reached phase two of its plan for Pacific City. In phase one Agent Alpha, as he was now know by, was created to assassinate key figures in city's underworlds in an attempt to destroy the power pyramid from below. It worked, however after being revealed to by 'the director' that these criminal organisations had been aided by The Agency in order to seize full control over the city, Agent Alpha stole his genetic memory files from The Agency and went missing. Without those files, The Agency could not breed new agents with the skill and experience of Agent Alpha.

Meanwhile a group of ex-gang members resolved their differences seized control of a stash of confiscated weapons and created 'The Freedom Faction' in rebellion of The Agency totalitarian control of the city. They had no known base of operations and mostly consisted of the migrant classes, which were massively downtrodden by the new regime. Yet there were rumours of a bigger company behind it.

Phase two involved new recruits, new agents and many of them. They were a tool to control the masses, like bread and circuses for the Romans. The cloning labs produced 50 Beta class clones. Their potential was even greater than that of Agent Alpha. Their purpose was to enforce the new power of the Agency and annihilate any possible rebellion.
