So here, finally, is the companion to Acceptance. I would recommend reading that one first, but it's not necessary. I own nothing.
And there they are, holding hands, and Lily Luna can't help the emotions surging inside of her, even though Lysander told her yesterday.
She was only half-listening, because, really, when is anything he says ever important? She's tolerated him all these years for the simple reason that her mother might strangle her if she hurt the fragile ego of Ginny's best friend's son.
But then Lysander said HIS name, and Lily Luna snapped to attention in a manner befitting the Ravenclaw gossip queen. That is, she stretched and acted uninterested, all the while straining her ears and memory to catch every little detail.
But Lysander eagerly spilled his heart out to her and told her which lucky boy he's bringing to the Potter Ball. She then nodded and walked away, seething with rage.
How many times had she made it clear to everyone that Scorpius Malfoy was hers? All her sulking and whispered threats of revenge should have warned any hopeful girls- or boys- that to love Scorpius would mean to cross her. But daft Lysander never noticed a thing, and she could never harm Lysander. Oh, no, never! Not her, not him. Not the girl who has tolerated him and his creepy obsessions for the past fifteen years.
And now someone else is dancing with Scorpius. It's sickening, really it is. After all those nights of putting up with Lysander's angst about how he should have saved Albus Severus from the Big Bad Scorpius, they're now whirling around. And doing it remarkably well.
Lily Luna is sure that's Scorpius who's causing them to look like they're flying on the wings of love. Clumsy, forever well-intentioned Lysander certainly could not dance like that. Not that Scorpius loves Lysander. No one with his class could ever love someone as dim as Lysander.
There's a shrieking noise that draws her eyes to the door.
Rose returned from the garden at some point, and she's screaming insults at the lover boys, insults that even her father would never dream of saying, at a pitch he could never reach. But everyone else is now glaring at her, supporting the pair, whispering that Albus Severus's death unhinged her.
And Lily Luna is offended by that, because he was, after all, her brother. Not Rose's. She does still meet her cousin's eye, whispering that she understands as Hermione takes her arm and drags her daughter away. Because she does understand the pain.
But she's a better person than Rose Muriel Weasley. So even though all she really wants to do is claw his face off in jealousy, she'll continue to tolerate Lysander the way she has before.
Wow... in this universe all the girls seem to be crazy. I really didn't mean for her to be so awful, but I hope you like it anyway.
